One Dress, Three Ways with Stylist Anna Jensen and Goldyn

As temperatures start to rise you’ll be cleaning out that winter wardrobe and putting spring looks into effect. But there’s one dilemma we’re sure you’re not ready to face, spring shopping. It can get exhausting trying to keep up with the latest trends that will only last one season. So why not invest in pieces that will last longer and allow for multiple wears?

303 Magazine has your back, so we teamed up with Denver stylist Anna Jensen and Goldyn to showcase one dress three different ways that can work for just about any occasion.

“The white dress is by Apiece Apart, which is by two women out of New York. This collection was inspired by New Mexico, which makes it great because its both boho and minimalist. As you’ll see, it can be shown and worn so many different ways. Its a piece people can really get a lot of use out of.” Said Vanessa Barcus, owner of Goldyn boutique. You can find the dress and other pieces at their Denver store or online.

303: Tell us a bit about what you did for this look. How are you approaching the white spring dress?

Jensen: This outfit is a great spring and summer look. This dress is easy to throw on and feel relaxed in, but add on some cute sandals and jewelry to the look and you look really put together. She can do just about anything from brunch to even a date in this outfit. But we really pumped it up with great accessories by layering. For example, if you look at all her bracelets you might not think they all go together. But they really work by bringing in that turquoise, without being to matchy matchy.

303: What can someone to do maximize their jewelry collection?

Jensen: Its fun to just go look at your jewelry, then pick a color as your base. From there, you can choose out textures and different materials. Maybe choose something that is a bit more shiny and contrast it with something more earthy which will give some juxtaposition. The necklace she has on is really delicate and pretty, and once again, there’s that turquoise color. I really like to do turquoise with white because its gives a good pop of color. It also keeps the look fresh, which is good for spring and summer.

303: Where do you see a girl wearing this look? Why the leather leggings?

Jensen: This is more of a going out on the town look. We really focused on the leather leggings, which is a good staple for everyone’s wardrobe now a days. Not only is it good for the fall and winter, but now we’re seeing them in the spring and summer as well. They’re especially great for Colorado, you can wear them year round. Here we’re doing it with something a bit lighter and flowy. I love this dress with the leggings, which turns it into more of a tunic. We then played it up with a great antler necklace by The Woods which gives a rocker chick vibe.

303: Tell us a bit about the footwear and its relationship to this look.

Jensen: I love having a sandal and mixing it with the leather pants. I think its a great look and a good juxtaposition. Because if you put on a full boot, it’s too fall and winter. But this is just really boho, rocker chick chic. And this bag gives way to that style as well. The shape is great with the rounded edges and animal print. It livens up the outfit. You always need something to do that when working with neutrals, something a bit fun.

303: Tell us a bit more about this third look.

Jensen: Once again, I think it’s fun to put this dress  with something a little more edgy. So here we have it with a biker jacket that’s a bit more feminine to work with the look. I choose this bootie because its great for spring and summer. The cut out shows a bit more skin, and boot itself is just so unique. I think this is a great outfit that can work multiple ways. If you’re in a more creative field you can wear this to a business meeting or to an event without being too cocktail attire. You’re well dressed but still comfortable.

303: What should one do to when working with less in their wardrobes?

Jensen: If you don’t have a lot in your wardrobe get on Instagram and Pinterest, because we have so many sources available to us these days. We can really get inspired and educated through these resources. Just start pinning looks you love. Then go back and remind yourself why you liked these looks in the first place. How are they accessorized, what kind of feeling is it, really study them. Then start shifting your look towards it. But what you really have to do is experiment. There are so many inexpensive places like Target and Charming Charlie’s, that have inexpensive accessories, so that you can give it a try without feeling like you broke the bank.
