Arts in Colorado literally means you don’t have to travel far to find a fresh dose of incredible works of art in every possible medium imagined. And, this weekend is no exception. We will travel through downtown Denver, then along the Santa Fe Arts District, to the Artist Open Studio Tour in Arvada then onto Indian Hills, “a world apart, only minutes away.” A wondrous full circle journey of art awaits you this September weekend. Enlighten your mind and awaken your soul.
Tonight, Friday, September 18th we begin our journey on Larimer Square at the Sally Centigrade Art Gallery as they welcome “Carbon: Group Art Show” featuring the work of over 45 acclaimed artists in the contemporary and pop surreal art scene; including local artists: Marie Vlasic, Naomi Haverland, Mike Graves, CT Nelson. National and international artists include Kurtis Rykovich, Morley, Jason Limon and so many more. “The show is named Carbon in reference to the molecular formula of diamonds and was inspired by the idea of the uniqueness of a diamond despite being compromised of only a single element. Pieces of wood were cut into 5″x7″ diamond shapes and shipped to artists all over the globe to be painted, adorned or even carved before being returned for the exhibit.” Sally Centigrade is located in the Downstairs Walkway, Suite 800 of 1423 Larimer Street, between 15th & 14th Avenues. Show opens at 5:00pm – 10:00pm.
The Hotel Teatro hosts their first artist event featuring the work of Colorado Artist, Kim Scott, throughout the lower level of the hotel. This event is 6:00pm – 8:00pm this evening, with light appetizers and beverages. Having taken a sneak peek earlier this week, Kim is showcasing not only her watercolors but her depth in acrylic paintings as well, an exhibit that engulfs color and imagination. “My work is derived from my love of color and simple shapes. Combining these two elements with contrast and texture make everyday subject matter a visual delight.” I suggest you also carve out time to dine or snack at The Nickel Restaurant as well, whether tonight before you continue on your journey or make it a point to come back. Hotel Teatro is Denver’s boutique hotel, visit www.HotelTeatro.com to learn more about this unique luxury experience. To find out more about Kim Scott visit www.VerveAndHue.com.

This is quite the list of pulsating art to experience, but I have no doubt that you, my artistic followers and collectors are up for the challenge. All are “Must Attend” events and I don’t say that lightly. Each venue offers something for everyone and simply put, offers you the opportunity to explore the arts around you. I look forward to seeing you somewhere along the artistic trail and who knows, you might just add to your collection.
