The Happiest Hour: Denver’s Best Late Night Deals

Happy hour deals are great. But if you’re busy with a 9-to-5 (or just busy, period) it can be tough to make in time to catch the best discounts. If you’re the kind of person whose celebrations start late, worry no more. We’ve got five of the Mile High’s best places to head for late night happy hour prices on food and drinks.

1. Billy’s Inn

Where: 4403 Lowell Blvd., Denver

Neighborhood: North Highlands

When: Sunday – Thursday, 9–11 p.m. & Friday – Saturday, 10 p.m. – midnight

Highlights: $1 rock lobster taco; $4 small nachos; $4 margaritas; $3.50 select draft beers

The Low Down: This classic Denver favorite never fails – especially when you’re craving tacos and tequila, and late night is no exception to that rule. With its relaxed neighborhood atmosphere and Baja-style eats, you may just end up joining the ranks of Billy’s Inn regulars.  

2. Highland Tap and Burger

Where: 2219 West 32nd Ave., Denver

Neighborhood: Highlands

When: 11 p.m. – close, daily

Highlights: $5 pork green chili; $4 Tito’s vodka, any way you like it; half off bottles of house wine 

The Low Down: With a deals that start when many restaurants are closing down for the night, Highland Tap and Burger is a low-key restaurant that caters to those looking for comfort food and stiff drinks well past midnight. Score drinks for $5 or less, plus there’s no excuse for skimping on dinner with filling food options till closing time like a burger and fries ($8.50) and ½ a butter griller artichoke with white truffle aioli ($4).

 

3. Angelo’s Taverna

Neighborhood: Alamo Placita

When: 9 p.m. – close daily

Highlights: $1 oysters on the half shell; $2 grilled oysters; $6 1 topping 8” pizza; $3 well drinks

The Low Down: When Angelo’s Pizza officially reopened as the revamped Angelo’s Taverna in 2013, the most apparent change was the addition of an oyster bar. Today, it’s still serving up fresh from the sea oysters and with their late night deals, you can basically use your pocket change to score some of Denver’s bets bivalves. Add a cocktail and you’ve got a recipe for an evening that will satisfy your expensive tastes on a budget.

4. Lou’s Food Bar

Neighborhood: Sunnyside

When: 9 p.m. – close daily

Highlights: $4 calamari; $3 mortadella spread; $4 mules, palomas, and whiskey sours

The Low Down: With games like foosball and cornhole along with plenty of booze and fried chicken, Lou’s is made for happy hour fun. Its late night deals are exactly the same as its earlier happy hour, making it super easy to relax the night away. Seven food options and discounts on cocktails, beer and wine mean that you’ve got options here, so find your favorites and stay a while.

5. Steuben’s

Neighborhood: Uptown

When: 10 p.m. – close daily

Highlights: $7 Cheeseburger, fries and choice of PBR, Olympia or Coors Banquet; $6 classic cocktails

The Low Down: A go-to for childhood favorites that have been ramped up for adult consumption, Steuben’s has a pretty good grip on what people in Denver are craving. And at night, what the people want is a solid burger. That’s probably why Steuben’s late night burger deal has become a fast-favorite. Paired with a decidedly unfussy brew or one of their classic cocktails like an old fashioned, pisco sour, or daiquiri, this deal is simple and satisfying.
