Say Yes to Prints

Colorado men are accustomed to jeans and a T-shirt, so we’re hoping for spice come this DFW. Prints are always in so why not introduce them to your closet slowly. Gingham and plaid act as great stepping stones for those foreign to “busy looks.” Search for these items in top coats, blazers and button-up shirts. Still a bit too graphic? Take it slowly and add that visual interest via a tie or scarf.

If you’re not one to pull off head-to-toe prints – you know who you are – use this opportunity to experiment. A statement piece is the way to go. Create an all-black silhouette then add that punch. Look for printed tennis shoes or trousers with trendy colors and textures. If you’re brave enough, try out some pastels for that spring fresh look. Whether you’re going bold or classic, try mixing it up this year, guys, and throw in those prints.

Biker Chic

Odds are you probably have a leather jacket that gets worn on the daily so why not take this basic look and pump it up a notch. Pair this classic black with a “Grease” inspired look via a white T-shirt and dark washed denim. Or go head-to-toe black with some cool boots or oxfords. Dress it up with a button-up, tie and slacks, and throw on that leather jacket to give some much needed edge. Or why not try out something fun: Look for a leather jacket in metallic or cobalt blue to stand out of the crowd.

Color Splash

09-fall-2015-ready-to-wear-street-style-07 Colors may not be at the top of the list for many guys but we’re convinced color is making a comeback. Spring is in the air so why not get rid of those blacks and browns. Take it slowly with more masculine colors like blue and green. Introduce it slowly through a simple button-up or sweater. Still feeling timid? A great blazer or jacket can help break up colors fast. But if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous why not go head-to-toe in red and violets. Use complementary colors like purple and yellow to cause some vibrations.

If it’s not your style to dress up in colors or prints, then keep it simple with some good basics. Stray away from the boring black blazer and keep it light for spring with navy or gray. Pair it back to basics with a powder blue button-up. Bow ties can add that much needed personality classic looks so often crave. So opt for something that will be sure to stand out from the rest of your ensemble.

Accessories Make the Outfit

milan-fashion-week-2012-tommy-ton-man-purseWhile it may be a foreign concept to some, accessories can make or break the outfit. Pay close attention to what you opt to wear on your head or feet. Hats have been super on-trend this year so why not try out a graphic beanie or a YSL-inspired flat brimmed hat. Cool over-sized clutches add a European flare so don’t be afraid to get out those man purses. Last, but not least, be sure to pay close attention to footwear. Keep it casual with some trainers or dress it up with leather wing tips.
