Metal Meltdown: Eyehategod, Lord Dying, Intronaut

It’s November and finally starting to get cold and this time of year always means awesome metal tours are coming through town. Check out this amazing list of upcoming events to melt your face this week.

Tuesday 11/11 – Eyehategod @ The Black Sheep

New Orleans sludge legends Eyehategod are gracing Colorado Springs with their presence this Tuesday. They got together in the late 80s, pioneering the sludge genre and have been playing together on and off ever since, although the lineup has shifted over the years due to personal tragedy and addiction. These guys play with more conviction than many bands out there and have also been through more than most people. They will be joined by Today is the Day, an aggressive rock ‘n’ roll band from Austin and Tree of Woe, a Denver band featuring Jeff Montoya of Catheter, as well as Blighter from Colorado Springs. The show starts at 7:00 PM and is $12 in advance, $14 the day of.

Tuesday 11/11 – Lord Dying @ The Marquis

Portland Doom band Lord Dying, signed to Relapse Records, are playing at The Marquis in Denver this Tuesday. They will be joined by awesome female-fronted doom group Castle, hailing from Norway, and awesome local band Dead Temple. Locals Cloud Catcher are also on the bill. The show starts at 7:00 PM and admission is $10.00.

Wednesday 11/12 – Intronaut @ The Marquis

The Marquis offers up a double header with Intronaut headlining a show the day after Lord Dying. Intronaut play prog-influenced music, but it’s definitely pure metal. They incorporate elements of doom and sludge into their music and utilize both clean and screamed vocals. They will be joined by stoner heavies Anciients and Denver post-metal bands Ghosts of Glaciers and Codec. The show starts at 7:oo PM; the cost is $15 in advance and $13 the day of.

Wednesday 11/12 – All Them Witches @ Lost Lake Lounge

You have your pick on Wednesday; if prog’s not your thing at all, go check out All Them Witches at Lost Lake Lounge. These guys play straight up rockin’ doom with a hint of the supernatural and sad. Their music is extremely compelling and catchy, and they seem like they would put on an awesome live show. The show will be opened by The Well and Abrams. Cost is $7 in advance, $10 the day of.  Doors open at 8:00 PM.

Thursday 11/13 –  Lord Dying @ The Black Sheep

If you couldn’t make it to the show at The Marquis, or if you live closer to the Springs, there will be a second chance to see Lord Dying and Castle. This show will be opened by locals Alone and Hell Hound. Doors are at 7:00 PM and the show costs $10.00.

Sunday 11/16 – Arch Enemy @ The Gothic

A big death metal show is hitting The Gothic this Sunday, featuring the female-fronted classic group Arch Enemy, German death metal pioneers Kreator, Huntress and Starkill. This show start at 8:00 PM and costs $26 in advance, $30 the day of, thanks to all the star power.
