The Friday Experience: Adventures in Art – Gallery/Theatre

It is always refreshing to leave town on an artistic adventure and explore other wildly artistic towns and cities only to come back and be reaffirmed that the “Artistic World” truly surrounds us all. My recent trip took me to two of my favorite artistic spots: Taos & Santa Fe, New Mexico. Each location offers a unique twist on the local artistic scene.

Truth be told, Denver and the State of Colorado also offers a unique local twist to the artistic cultural scene, it really just depends on how you want to receive it.

Upcoming Adventures in Art in both Gallery and Theatre Include:

Marica Cheng - "Spirited & Sworded Treks" Germinal Stage and Asia Theatre - Photo Courtesy of GSAT

The production is at the Germinal Stage and Theatre Asia this Friday and Sunday at 7:00 p.m. with a Saturday Matinee at 2:00 p.m., please note there will not be a performance Saturday night and there will only be three (3) performances of this production. “This astonishing tour de force opened to multiple curtain calls and standing ovations. See Maria stir-fry while mutilating assorted Barbie Dolls. A warm and wonderful combination of stand-up comedy and spiritual exploration!”

How about a short drive to a gallery “A World Apart. Only Minutes Away”? Then tonight’s Friday Opening Reception, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00p.m.at Mirada Fine Art Gallery located in the Indian Hills Trading Post should be your destination. Featuring the artwork of “legendary Southwestern Artist, Pablo Milan. His show is titled pablo MILAN: southwestern LAYERS.” “I have a great respect for Native Americans, what they have done, and what they have tried to teach us,” states Milan, “My use of color shows the power, boldness and beauty of the culture. I exaggerate those elements to make them the center of attention.”

“As one of the southwest’s most prominent and recognized artists, Pablo Milan has long been viewed as highly collectible. His distinctive contemporary look is known for its loose brushstrokes and powerful style. Mr. Milan seamlessly incorporates Latin American figures with Native American scenes into his paintings. A fifth-generation New Mexican, Pablo Milan literally has been immersed in the rich culture of the Four Corners area his entire life.” Mirada Fine Art, 5490 Parmalee Gulch Road, Indian Hills, CO, 80454, 303.697.9006.
