Style Crush: Katy Perry’s Wild for Animal Prints

This week’s Style Crush is the candy coated pop star that has been “roaring” through speakers everywhere. Katy Perry definitively pushes the style boundaries by adding over-the-top fun, brightness and props into her ensembles. “I don’t follow trends,” Katy states, ”I’m just not into what everyone else is wearing. I have my own look, which I call ‘Lolita Meets Old Hollywood Glam.’” She may not be following the trends, but this season’s trends agree with what she is doing.

Like polka dots and LBD’s, animal print is a staple that will never go out of style. This fall especially, animal print is a huge DO. Lanvin, Givenchy, and Phillip Lim incorporated animal prints in their fall collections, updating the trend into modernized designs to make them runway ready. So, put some wild into your wardrobe (we all should have some animal prints in our closets) and Katy shows us how to do it right!

Katy wore the slim-fitting leopard print Emanuel Unagaro dress to the MTV VMA’s earlier this fall. Gold embellishments and high slit make the staple bold and edgy. The heels are the perfect complement to the gold, black and tans in the dress (Was accessorizing with a grill part of the night a DO? If nothing else, it was bold!)

The zebra print jumpsuit by H&M is a fun outfit that is great for day or a night on the town. The purple heels add a pop of color against the black and white suit, while the statement necklace and black belt break up the pattern.

Katy sneaks a touch of leopard into her look. The beret combined with the trench and London telephone booth graphic tee (and pink hair) is casually chic.

Looking into spring, the Just Cavalli 2014 Ready-to-Wear is reflective of Katy’s bright blue Blugirl by Blumarine dress that she wore for Glamour’s February 2010 cover. Neon and animal print is becoming a popular combo!
