It may seem like it’s too soon to discuss your fall wardrobe, but with all the fantastic pieces arriving from the new collections and stores gearing up for the changing seasons, it’s safe to say now is the perfect time to start. The best way to bring fall into your everyday dress is with a nice lightweight sweater.

V-neck, crew neck, a cardigan, or a nice sweatshirt: here’s to a stylish beginning to the fall season.

THE SWEATER: whether it’s a crewneck sweater patterned with bold stripes that makes for a nice casual look or a V-neck jumper that can be layered with a dress shirt for an effortlessly sharp look, finding the right sweater can make or break an outfit. Whether it’s heavy-knit wool, feather-light cashmere, or rich cotton, there’s always something for every kind of climate, from a light breeze or a crisp chill. H&M, Autumn Cashmere, J. Crew, and Vince are great brands to start with to build your sweater-weather wardrobe.

THE CARDIGAN: I always wear this as a blazer alternative. Easily dressed up with a shirt and tie or simply casual with a fun graphic t-shirt, it makes for the perfect go-to piece for fall. I usually keep the colors black, gray and navy as my staple colors. It’s always nice to have fun colors like yellow or plum to add a new dimension to your outfit. There are so many wonderful options from brands like Rag & Bone, Etro, H&M, and J. Crew that can make your closet a cozier one.

THE SWEATSHIRT: I call this the T-shirt of the colder seasons. Great to pair with your favorite jeans and tennis shoes, it’s the casual go-to for a relaxing day or simply to stay in a comfortable state. Finding the nice medium between style and overall comfort is made easier with the sweatshirt. Vince, H&M, and J. Crew are great brands to start with; or even the sports shops if you’re looking to show pride in your favorite sports teams.
