It is a wondrous journey through light and texture that Jeff Johnson takes his audience on with his dynamic photography. “Being able to share with others the beauty I see in locations and destinations that most folks won’t ever get to in their lives” smiles Johnson.
“I was fortunate to have grown up in the world of photography, so it was kind of a natural move for me after college” states Johnson. Johnson’s father was a Master portrait photographer, and well respected in the field in the Midwest. “He was a great artist, teacher and of course, father” smiles Johnson.
This Saturday, August 17th, Highland Park Apartments, located at 2424 W. Caithness Place, Denver, CO hosts “Meet the Artist”, an open to the public reception from 5p.m.- 7p.m., giving art lovers and collectors an opportunity to view Jeff Johnson’s work up close and personal.
One of the challenges of the photography industry is “the fact that everybody has a digital camera these days, from point-n-shoot models to phone cameras, it makes it very difficult for the general public to understand that photography is still an art and that there is a huge difference in what a phone camera can capture to what a photographic artist creates,” smiles Johnson.
Jeff Johnson has received the National Award from the Professional Photographers of America. “I have been very fortunate and am grateful for the accolades I have received. This award is given to individuals who have tirelessly given of themselves to not only their colleagues and an association but to the art and others in the name of photography as well,” explains Johnson.
Jeff Johnson’s vision through his photography is one of a kind realism intertwined with a bit of fantasy.
“Not only do I love to create and share my imagery with others I stay connected, or sane, by teaching others how to see the beauty in things and capture it for their art.”

In closing I asked Jeff what advice he has for others that want to head into this industry. “Be true to yourself and your art. It IS about what you see and feel not what critics and others say you should be creating.”
