One of my all-time favorite pop culture characters is Peter Pan. Who can’t relate to the famous proclamation “I won’t grow up?” This iconic tale has been presented many different ways and is reimagined yet again in “Peter and the Starcatcher,” currently on a limited run at The Ellie Caulkins Opera House. This production is based on Peter and the Starcatchers, written by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson and is fashioned as an adult prequel to Peter Pan (They highly suggest children under ten stay home).

The production took away five Tony Awards® in 2012.  Believe the hype and accolades. This show is pure imaginative eye candy and compelling story telling. The sets, cleverly crafted from recycled materials found at each stop on the tour, are one of a kind. However, the standout stars are the twelve insanely talented actors who transform magically into 100 + characters during the span of the show. For pure enjoyment, I highly suggest you run to see this show before it flies away (pun intended).

“Peter and the Starcatcher” plays daily except Mondays at the Ellie Calkins Opera, in the Denver Performing Arts Complex, through September 1st.
