One of my favorite programs in Denver is the PlatteForum. PlatteForum is a collaborative urban oasis for underserved youth, paired with master artists from around the world. Currently in residency is Teri Frame. This unique artist blends ceramics and video installations into performance art and is most known for her collaborative work on Pre human, Posthuman, Inhuman (performance and video series). She will exhibit at PlatteForum from August 1 through August 23. Frame’s work focuses mainly on the notion of human beauty, body perception, human proportion and how that is affected by ethnicity, age, disease disability and race. Particularly, she explores how disfigurements according to societal standards are marginalized and estranged, a hot topic in today’s current societal climate.

Teri has been in residency at the PlatteForum since June. While there, she was able to work with the ArtLab youth collaborating on a video based on their perceptions of beauty and their experiences growing up. Teri used their unique perspectives and feedback to help create her performance piece.

There is nothing better in my eyes than combining unique art while giving back to our community.
