Red Rocks will be bathed in “Red Rain” this weekend. Whereas precipitation can often be a downer at the elevated, celebrated venue, this particular dose is destined for exaltation. “Red Rain” is one of a handful of stratospheric hits from Peter Gabriel’s five times platinum 1986 album So, which is being re-released September 18 to coincide with his Back to Front tour this fall. Back to Front rolls through Morrison Sunday, September 30. Remember when John Cusak’s character Lloyd Dobler hoisted a boombox blaring “In Your Eyes” toward the love of his life’s bedroom in Cameron Crowe’s film Say Anything? Try taking the love of yours to hear Gabriel deliver one of the most romantic songs of all-time—the quintessential panty dropper—in person at what is arguably the most acoustically perfect amphitheater in the universe. Say Anything before your time? You were probably a smidgen confused when Stan aimed “Shock the Monkey” at Wendy’s window on South Park.
