St. Patrick’s Day is quickly approaching—it’s time to buy that Guinness, sport that shamrock bead necklace, and wear so much green that you’re mistaken for Kermit the Frog. This weekend make merry and feel good about it by visiting Fadó Irish Pub & Restaurant’s annual St. Baldrick’s charity event on March 16th. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is the world’s largest volunteer-driven fundraising program for childhood cancer research. Every year, thousands of people internationally shave their heads to raise money and awareness to fight America’s number one disease killer of children. This Friday, 300 plus people will be facing the razors at Denver’s Fadó’s ninth St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraiser.

Last year, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation raised $28,361,050 worldwide with the help of 40,081 male and 5,269 female shavees at 1,047 events. After overhead expenses are subtracted, the majority of charities give back around 50–60% of their raised funds, but the St. Baldrick’s Foundation gives back at least 88% of the funds that are raised. Thus far, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation has raised over $117 million for childhood cancer research.

Denver’s Fadó doesn’t just have any run of the mill St. Baldrick’s event either—it is home to one of the top 10 St. Baldrick’s events in the nation and one of the top 20 worldwide. The St. Baldricks Foundation is aiming to raise $225,000 this year at the event and hopefully the event’s 2,000 expected attendees will accomplish this task. The fundraiser will be held from 12–6:30 p.m. and will feature the Scooby-Doo characters and their Mystery Machine van, a raffle and auction, $4 Heineken, Sailor Jerry, Stoli flavors, and house Merlot drink specials, bagpipers, and, of course, many a bald head. Attendees that are 21 plus can stay at Fadó after the event and listen to live music provided by That Eighties Band—Fadó will be donating 20% of food and drink sales all day long so be sure to get that after-work drink or snack at the pub later. Having a drink has never felt so right or tasted so good.
