St. Patrick’s Day is quickly approaching—it’s time to buy that Guinness, sport that shamrock bead necklace, and wear so much green that you’re mistaken for Kermit the Frog. This weekend make merry and feel good about it by visiting Fadó Irish Pub & Restaurant’s annual St. Baldrick’s charity event on March 16th. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is the world’s largest volunteer-driven fundraising program for childhood cancer research. Every year, thousands of people internationally shave their heads to raise money and awareness to fight America’s number one disease killer of children. This Friday, 300 plus people will be facing the razors at Denver’s Fadó’s ninth St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraiser.
Last year, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation raised $28,361,050 worldwide with the help of 40,081 male and 5,269 female shavees at 1,047 events. After overhead expenses are subtracted, the majority of charities give back around 50–60% of their raised funds, but the St. Baldrick’s Foundation gives back at least 88% of the funds that are raised. Thus far, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation has raised over $117 million for childhood cancer research.
