Style Porn: All Eyes on Mondo

Like most Project Runway Season 8 viewers, I was shocked when Mondo Guerra finished the competition as a runner-up to winner Gretchen Jones. However, Guerra – Denver’s own hometown fashion hero and HIV/AIDS activist – now has a chance at runway redemption when the new series Project Runway All Stars premieres on Thursday, Jan. 5, on Lifetime. The best part though, is that we can join Guerra in the celebration of his return to TV during weekly viewing parties (running through March 22) at Beauty Bar on East 13th Avenue in Cap Hill.

“Mondo’s All Star Thursdays” will offer guests the chance to join Guerra and other special guests like fellow Project Runway designers Michael Costello and Peach Carr. Each viewing party also will include games, activities and prizes coordinated around a theme for that week’s episode. “It’s not only a fun time for friends to get together and enjoy the show, it’s also my thank-you gift to Denver for all of the love and support I’ve received,” Guerra says.

Special guest Michael Costello will be in attendance during the first viewing party (out of the twelve-episode run) on Jan. 5. Doors open at the Beauty Bar at 6 pm, and the show starts at 7 pm. While there is no charge for entry, Guerra has asked for a $1 or $2 donation to support Colorado AIDS Project’s vital work in the community. Also be sure to pose with Guerra and Costello in a photo booth, and pick up some of Guerra’s merchandise while you’re there.

Also, this just in: Mondo Guerra will be showing his 2012 collection for the first time at Denver Fashion Weekend closing night on Saturday, March 3. I, for one, can’t wait to watch these episodes and get a glimpse of what we might expect to see at DFW. Stay tuned and let’s show some local love for Team Mondo.

Save The Date:
