Fashion Fridays – Fashion’s Night Out Invades Colorado

OK, it’s not officially Friday, but Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) events warrant a non-Friday post. As the fashion industry gears up for New York Fashion Week Spring 2012, major cities across the world are celebrating fall fashion with a slew of shopping events on Thursday, September 8. Not to be left out, Colorado is joining in the fashion fun with events in Boulder and at Park Meadows Mall.

Featuring champagne, food, live music, goody bags and celebrity guest appearances, Boulder’s FNO will include a preview of fall’s top apparel and accessories from Downtown Boulder’s best retailers, galleries and salons. Live in Denver but interested in partaking in Boulder’s FNO event? 303 will be running a limo bus service from Jet Hotel at 4:30pm, returning at 12:30am for $20 per person. Call 720.849.6055 to rsvp your spot. For more information visit: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=163885200346752

Park Meadows Mall will also be opening its doors to the fashion festivities, with over 55 stores and restaurants participating. A free event, the evening will include a runway where visitors can strut their stuff to win a shopping spree, style closets inspired by celebrities, photo opps, prizes, store events/deals and more.

Whether Anna (of Vogue, of course) could have envisioned such a successful worldwide phenomenon when she casually threw together a “stimulate the economy” type shopping event in 2009 is hard to say. But one thing’s for sure – FNO is about so much more than shopping; it’s about community and that’s something Coloradans do very well.

FNO is a global initiative created in 2009 in a partnership between American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company, and the City of New York to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, boost the industry’s economy and put the fun back in shopping. For this one night, New York City joins cities and locales around the world for this annual event to showcase designers, fashion and one-of-a-kind events.
