Fashion Fridays – Macy’s Lands Lagerfeld

In today’s world of fast fashion and high-end designers creating affordable diffusion lines, its not terribly surprising that even the most prolific and luxurious designer would hop on the capsule collection bandwagon. That’s right kids, Chanel designer, and fashion king, Karl Lagerfeld has agreed to design a 45-piece collection for chain retailer, Macy’s.

The collection which will be a blend of classic dresses, whimsical tops, edgy outerwear, Chanel’s famous tweeds and Lagerfeld’s signature high-collared neck look, will include both men’s and women’s pieces. The line is set to launch on August 31 at 200 Macy’s stores across the US. Prices will range from $50 to $170. No word on whether the Karl collection will make it to Colorado, but pieces will be available online.

Terry J. Lundgren, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Macy’s Inc told WWD: “Karl Lagerfeld holds a unique place in the world of fashion, an icon who is the ultimate modernist. Through the decades, his style and vision have marked the history of design. It is a tremendous honour to bring his inimitable perspective to our fashion customer.”

But this is not Lagerfeld’s first go-around at at a designer defusion line; he has previously done collaborations with Swedish clothing chain H&M and French mail-order company La Redoute.

Ah, a fall fashion fantasy come true!
