Beatmakers with competent pipes are tough to come by. Bjork, Jamie Lidell and Denver’s Joman are a few examples of individuals that can both program a mean drum pattern and rock a mic. San Fransisco’s Eskmo is another. Deriving his almost-indigenous alias from a 1979 Residents record, Brendan Angelides first connected a Miracle keyboard, a bass guitar and a four-track recorder at his then-Connecticut home-base. Many high school seniors are tasked with turning in term papers prior to commencement; Angelides delivered “Machines on Task”, his first formal recording. The Bay Area embraced him when he played his debut there in 2006. Angelides promptly migrated westward to the California electronica Mecca. Eskmo joined forces with Ninja Tune last year to drop-kick out his newest jams. Click on the Inception-inspired clip for “We Got More” below. And snag an mp3 freebie while you’re at it.
