Minnesota Bluegrass scene favorite Pert Near Sandstone will grace the Bluebird on Thursday, March 10th. The group has produced six full length albums since 2004, with their latest album, The Hardest Part of Leaving, having been one of the most anticipated Bluegrass albums of 2014. The Motet’s Joey Porter is a staple in our local live music scene and this weekend he’s bringing the funk with yet another side project, Joey Porter’s Shady Business. Marco Benevento is returning to Denver and bringing piano forward, high energy psychedelic dance-rock with him. He’s celebrating the release of his new album The Story of Fred Short that comes out April 1. Synthesizers and drum machine grooves infuse Marco’s music with a an edge that — as Brooklyn Vegan so accurately put it — “could appeal to Damon Albarn fans as much as (or more than) Jerry Garcia fans.” Check out his new video for Dropkick, featuring Marco himself as a tiger headed man in a pinstriped zoot suite, dancing around a bonfire and drinking champagne in the bathtub. Dyrty Byrds CD Release Party @ Oriental Theater – March 19

The Dyrty Byrds are a four-piece rock and roll band straight outta the Mile High. They’re celebrating the release of their third album Failure is Feedback, which debuts on March 18. Failure is Feedback combines the Dyrty Byrds’ signature Southern Rock sound with some outlaw country riffs, plus a bit of grungy punk rock for good measure. The first fifty people to the show will receive free download cards for the new album, so show up early. The Dyrty Byrds set begins at 10pm. If you can’t make this show (because there’s always so many concerts going on at the same time around here #denverproblems), you can catch them playing again at Cervantes’ Other Side on April 14. Bag Raiders @ Larimer Lounge – March 21

Lend your ears to the funky, dance grooves of Australian synth-pop duo Bag Raiders. Just try and stand still as the electronic melodies course through your ears and beg your feet to start moving. Their alternative brand of electronic dance jams is both fresh and fun. Their 2009 single “Shooting Stars” garnered love on the charts, though the band has only released a few short EPs since their debut album in 2010. They can be seen remixing the work of other artists, but we’re hoping this fine-tuned duo breaks out some more singles before their Larimer Lounge appearance on March 21. Regardless, this will be a crazy fun show and one not to miss! (Alex Faubel)

Denver natives Kontrast & Fo’ Chief have been sustaining the consistent vibe of hip-hop in Denver individually for quite some time, however they have also been releasing projects under the name “Cannonball Soup” together. At the end of the month, the duo will put on an album release party for their album “Cannonball Soup: The Last Supper” at the Marquis. She’s back, folks! The unmistakeable voice of the talented, beautiful Santigold will grace the Mile High City this month. She will be touring on her new album entitled 99¢. Her infectious hits like “L.E.S Artists” and “Creator” dug their way into our brains in an unforgettable, melodious manner. These earworms received positive attention from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork and more. The tracks off her new album are noticeably sunnier and more positive, undoubtedly a byproduct of becoming a new mother. Don’t miss her upbeat live performance this month at the Ogden! (Alex Faubel)
