Lenka

Wednesday, June 24 — Lost Lake Lounge (Denver)

Australian pop-princess Lenka will bring her upbeat, cheerful pop sounds to the Mile High City. She’s already gotten buzz from the likes of People, Entertainment Weekly, MTV and The Fader, the latter of which premiered her first single “Blue Skies.” Surprisingly enough, her overly-cheerful pop anthems are little in the way of irritating or shallow, maybe because the singer’s Aussie roots lend to a darker, dry humor apparent in her music. The singer announced her album The Bright Side, which premiered June 16th. Check her out tomorrow night at Lost Lake Lounge.

Tickets: Advance – $16  / Day of Show – $20

Rob Thomas (of Matchbox 20)

Known for being the lead vocalist of Matchbox 20, Rob Thomas returns to Denver’s Paramount Theatre on a solo stint. Expect to hear some of the singer’s Matchbox 20 classics, as well as his solo work, including the smash hit by Carlos Santana, “Smooth,” which Thomas contributed lead vocals to.

In This Moment

Saturday, June 27 — The Fillmore Auditorium (Denver)

Lead vocalist Maria Brink has built not only a unique, defining sound, but a seductive image for In This Moment, which has helped them soar to the tops of the metal charts. Going from a relatively unknown metal band — who once played as opening act to Ozzfest 2007 — to one of the most sought after acts, and most recognized sound on metal radio stations across the country is no easy feat.

In This Moment have a subtle temperance about them that yields the perfect amount of crisp, melodic commercial appeal with a tantalizingly brutal second half, à la a ‘Jekyll & Hyde’-like approach. It’s not that they’re equivocal about the sound that best suits them (or that they’ve yet to find their sound), it’s quite the opposite … They’ve honed a sound that involves the best of both worlds.

Tickets: $26.50
