Hailing from British Columbia, the secretive electronic producer is only known by one other name, Jamison. He possesses a tremendous work ethic, having produced five records since surfacing on the blogosphere with 2010’s Four More Years. His latest, Glacier, dropped earlier this month on Lefse Records.

It’s not exactly stunning to hear muted electronica in the twilight of the dubstep era, yet there’s something significant about Teen Daze. The style of pop-via-synth expressed on Glacier is perhaps the softest of its kind on the market, a chilled mix of crystalline affects and hushed rhythms. This concoction produces some remarkably vivid material, culminating early on in “Ice On The Windowsill.” This track is followed by “Tundra,” a song that builds an extravagant weave of electronica over a droning keyboard note, capturing the sensation one might feel staring into the aurora borealis from the frosty wastelands of the Yukon Ranges. Later,  abandon almost all pop direction for something closer to pure ambiance, like on “Forest At Dawn” and the closer “Walk.”

While his new album sees Jamison becoming more untethered from the mainstream realm, there’s plenty of Teen Daze bangers likely to be heard this Halloween. There’s  the excellent house single “What You Feel” as well as the high fructose friction of “Two,” a cut off of a recent “lost song” compilation. He also presents an interesting take on classic rock in “Union,” a song written with fellow lo-fi enthusiast Frankie Rose. But perhaps his best is the enchanting “Brooklyn Sunburn,” a colorful puree of percussion and samples that realizes the summertime jam like few other chillwave artists are capable of.
