Denver’s fancy dress party of masquerading as summer in November may well come to an end this weekend, but snow shouldn’t keep anyone from trekking downtown to the Larimer Lounge to see Brooklyn noise rock band, A Place to Bury Strangers, while they continue to run away from the east coast’s lackluster weather.

The lovely trio last touched down in our humble city four months ago for the Denver Post Underground Music Showcase when they brought the warm fuzz of electronics, hooky guitar riffs, and post-punk lyrical glam to greedy ears, beer-clutched hands and sweaty smiles.

“joyride through new wave and noise rock heaven with shoegaze pedal work”

Though I thought their latest album effort was a touch derivative, the band’s sound is sumptuous and experiencing live the “joyride through new wave and noise rock heaven with shoegaze pedal work” is better than listening through a solid set of headphones.

A Place To Bury StrangersLead vocalist Oliver Ackermann’s romantic hum is well worth braving what little snow the city will probably see and if APTBS’s brand of rock doesn’t quite suit your fancy, go anyway–Denver duo, Force Publique, is opening the show.

A Place To Bury Strangers performs at Larimer Lounge on Sunday, November 11. Doors open at 8p. $13.50 in advance / $15 at the door.
