In need of some good ol’ fashioned Americana this Saturday? South Pearl Street is putting on their BrewGrass music festival for anyone wanting to soak in some sun, drink a cold beer and hear some great music.
Starting more than a century ago, South Pearl Street has consistently grown and evolved into one of Denver’s most notable and fashionable neighborhoods for close-knit, family businesses and profitable service stores. Dozens of mom-and-pop shops and restaurants blossomed up around the area allowing the neighborhood to grow and thrive into something of the idyllic Small Town, USA. Following the rise in popularity of the larger, commercial, corporate malls in the ’60s and ’70s, South Pearl took a hit to its appeal and many business had to close up shop.
With inexpensive living cost and an abundance of vacant space, South Pearl was revitalized with the migration of artists looking to revive a sense of energy around the neighborhood. Today, South Pearl Street has its own Light Rail station moving thousands of people through the flourishing neighborhood every day.
With seven bluegrass and folk bands currently booked from 1pm to 8:45pm this Saturday, June 11th, BrewGrass offers a wide open window for you to come down and enjoy some equally great microbrews and music. Walk around, visit the shops, try the restaurants, and live the history of South Pearl Street reflected within the offices
and galleries of many talented artists and businesses.
BrewGrass is $5 for admission and taking place “rain or shine”. As always, you must be at least 21 to drink. Unfortunately they won’t allow dogs at BrewGrass, but you’re encouraged to bring chairs and take advantage of the weather, riding a bike to the event or utilizing the convenient RTD stops.
