An amazing lineup of artists graced 3 stages on the first night of Decadence 2013 put on by Global Dance Festival and Triad Dragons. Denver’s local Dub Step talent presented heavy tracks on the Sub.mission stage culminating with Coult-45. The Bass Arena was kept busy with top shelf names like Bassnectar, Beats Antique, Break Science and Keys N Krates. Colorado’s own String Cheese Incident played at the Broomfield 1st Bank Center on the 29th for their 20th anniversary tour. Opening up for the String Cheese Incident was no less than the Flaming Lips with incredible light effects and tons of confetti to dazzle the eyes as well as ears. Tuba Christmas is a unique Holiday Tradition held on December 22, 2013 in downtown Denver, Skyline Park. The tradition began December 22, 1974 in Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. Tuba players from all over Colorado and across the nation converged on Skyline Park to fill the air with Christmas tunes. Players ranged in age from 6-90 years old. This weekend at Skyline Park, civilians warmed themselves up at the Denver Christkindl Market. On Friday, December 201th, 2013, One Republic held their third Denver Acoustic Christmas to benefit Colorado flood victims. The Georgetown Christmas Market is a Colorado tradition held the weekends of Dec. 7-8 & 14-15th in Georgetown, CO. The wind was brisk but the chestnuts and hospitality were warm in the cozy Historic town of Georgetown, CO. The crafts were bright and festive and the tasty treats were sweet. The children\'s precession was lead by St. Nicholas down 6th St. Bagpipe tunes filled the air along with the festive songs sung by The Last Note Singers from Denver. On Friday December 12th Voodoo Doughnut invited 303 Magazine behind the counter as few hours before their soft opening later that night. The smell back there was like something from heaven and people were lined up at the door in anticipation of the renowned and creative confection. Voodoo Doughnut will be open sporadically for the next few weeks while they work out the kinks in their operation. The official Grand Opening is scheduled for some time in January. Fashion Feast was the result of many artist\'s creative insights: a night of runway walks, live performances and fundraising for Feeding Colorado & Food Bank of the Rockies. New York City-based designer Geoffrey Mac headlined the night and unleashed his 2014 GMAC collection of street wear on the runway. Previous work of his has included collaborations with Lady Gaga, Debbie Harry and Ke$ha. Local Designers Segment featured: Local clothing and accessories by Rachel Marie Hurst, NOx by Jose Duran, 50 Dresses by Tess Vigil, Incroyables by Melissa May, Emily Dear Heart accessories, and Hair by El Salon. RuPaul\'s Drag Race winner Sharon Needles spiced up the night, and performed between couture vignettes as Fashion Feast\'s guest of honor. Fashion-show producer was Katelyn Simkins. The Voodoo Comedy Playhouse in Denver hosted Cora Vette’s 5th Annual Naughty Noel Burlesque show. The Va Va Vette’s put on a raunchy and funny show to some lesser knows Christmas songs. Feathers flew and smiles flashed as the ladies danced and everyone that attended with hooted with ruckus hollering. Cora Vetter and her Va Va Vette’s put on their burlesque show with varying themes every Thursday night at the Voodoo Comedy Playhouse. On Saturday, November 16th, Delmy Gooch photography and Kindra Harris, owner of Love Hertz clothing, released Colorado Girls 2014 calendar at Chances Grill Hip-Hop Night club: 1523 Market st. The Gothic was packed for DeVotchKa’s Halloween show. The costumes were gruesome or hysterical depending on the lighting. Finch drew a fierce, passionate, and embattled crowd as they took over The Gothic and treated fans to something Denver had been waiting for. Arms flailed, voices shrieked out, and life and limb flew through the pit and over the crowd as adventurous surfers tested the fates. Chris Anthony, pro skier for over 20 years and well known from appearing in and hosting the Warren Miller movies, hosted an amazing event to benefit his Youth Initiative Project (www.chrisanthony.com) by showing the film "A Climb to Glory," showing the amazing story of the brave men in the 10th Mountain Division fighting in WWII, and came back to create much of the ski industry in Colorado. There's a reason this sold out in a mere twenty minutes this year. Sure ticket master is partly to blame, but there's no contesting the sheer magnitude of brewmasters, and attendees at the event with over 2100 beers to choose from. Many a warrior have fallen trying to get through every one. This was the largest tasting in the world. . . yes the WORLD. Waylon Albright "Shooter" Jennings is an American singer-songwriter active in the country music and Southern rock genres as well as making his first foray into psychedelic rock in 2009. Jennings made his debut with the single "4th Of July" of his 2005 album Put the "O" Back in Country, which peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard country charts. Denver music fans can count themselves among the lucky if they were there for the Yellowcard show with supporting artist Geoff Rickley (of Thursday). Touring in support of the 10 year (yes really) anniversary of "Ocean Avenue," Yellowcard played an acousitc set as well as an electric set which featured songs from all their other cds. One More Time: A Tribute to Daft Punk is the first and only realistic tribute of their kind. They donned replica chromed helmets and FULL SCALE pyramid stage to create the perfect Daft Punk inspired vibe and performed an awe-inspiring encore in electro-luminescent suits, reminiscent of the “Alive 2007” tour. You could cut the anticipation with a knife. Crowds filled the Pepsi Center that had been waiting for hours to get a prime spot on the floor. You could feel the energy. Once Cage the Elephant came on, the arena was buzzing with excitement. They told their devoted if they had to build a boat to get to this show with all the flooding, that's what they would have done. The audience chanted along to Cage's intoxicating melodies. Then Muse came on and took the Pepsi Center by storm. Known for being theatrical, high energy, and extravagant, they did not disappoint. Described as space rock, progressive, alternative, symphonic rock, and electronica - Muse spans many musical genres to make just the right amount of special sauce that everyone craves. On September 7th, Harmony Yoga hosted Sounding the Sacred. It was an end of Summer healing concert performed by Chris Anne and Jason Coviello. Chris Anne played the Tibetan singing bowls, whole her husband Jason played the Hang drum. The concert was aimed at relaxing the mind, body, and soul.

Denver Broncos Pro Bowl guard traded in his helmet for elephant tusks on September 8, 2013 at the Exdo Center to celebrate the launch of his non-profit the Zane Beadles Parade Foundation. Fans and families from Brent's Place, the beneficiary of the events funds, flocked for the chance to meet Zane along with other members of the Broncos like: Ben Garland, J.D. Walton, Chris Kuper, Orlando Franklin, Vinston Painter, Ryan Clady, Paul Cornick, and Brock Osweiller for breakfast and elephant-themed fun. Emceed by Denver’s D Bar restaurant chef and Food Network personality, Keegan Gerhard, the parade of fun did not stop all day. Cake walks, a silent auction, cupcake decorating tables, a bouncy castle for the kids, face painting, a photo booth, broadcasts of the first NFL games of the season, and even a chance to dance with the players. MGMT lit up Filmore's Auditorium to a euphoric spectacle of sights and sounds. Fans packed in the venue, chanting their favorite songs while proudly displaying their neon signs and freshly painted faces. MGMT is an American psychedelic rock band founded by Benjamin Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden. After the release of their first album, the members of their live band, Matthew Asti, James Richardson and Will Berman, joined the core band in the studio. Rising Star is the 7th Biennial Signature Event presented by The Fashion Group International of Denver in collaboration with Dress for Success Denver saluting fourteen emerging Colorado designers who competed for the title of the next "rising star”. The winner of the competition was Carol Ann Wachter. She is a fashion designer based in Boulder, Colorado. Carol has drawn from her painting and sculpture background to create her own line of women’s clothing. With a focus on fine fabrics, craftsmanship, and classic forms, Carol has built a reputation for wearable, elegant silhouettes.

The 2nd annual Tiki Ball had people dancing the night away with plenty of entertainment on hand, to include mermaids, Elvis, hula dancers, a vintage bikini contest, limbo contest, and even Hawaiian fire dancers! Red Bull team members Jeff Provenzano from Arizona and Miles Daisher from Idaho jumped and soared from heights of 45 stories off the Four Seasons roof top Tuesday night! This poolside soiree below helped raise funds for the Colorado Scholarship Coalition. This is the first RBAF jump in Denver. RBAF has worked with 13 separate buildings around the country for permission to jump including: the Sears/Willis Tower Chicago, Trump International hotel/tower Chicago; Trump Marina Atlantic City; Grand Hyatt San Diego; Silver Legacy, Atlantis, Hilton Hotel and The Nugget in Reno; MGM Signature Tower Vegas; and GM Renaissance Center Detroit.
One Republic provided an electrifying performance and provided great stage presence. One Republic formed in 1996 after Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins befriended each other during their senior year at Colorado Springs Christian High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado. During a drive home, as Filkins and Tedder discussed favorite musicians including Fiona Apple, Peter Gabriel and U2, they decided to put together a band. Check out photo's from Thursday's show! This was a one-of-a-kind private event hosted by Hornitos Tequila. It’s directed towards Denver’s local bartenders and local media, featuring musical guest St. Lucia and showcased a tasting room of the Hornitos Tequila portfolio. The Bluebird Theater was a quite the party on Friday the 16th complete with face painting at the entrance, wild costumes and the grooviest ambience imaginable. The Psychedelic American Dream was a conceptual show put together by members of Eldren, The Foot, and The Yawpers that encompassed the nostalgia of classic rock with a modern twist. Round two of Pretty Lights performing at Red Rocks was just as awesome as the first. Pretty Lights released a new full-length album titled A Color Map of the Sun on July 2, 2013. This is the first Pretty Lights album that does not rely on borrowed samples. Smith conducted and composed all music for the record himself and with musicians in studios in Brooklyn, New Orleans and Denver.Artist’s from Smith’s record label opened the show and it was a great turn out! The Denver Bronco Cheerleaders hosted the release of the 2014 swimsuit calendar and the 5th annual race to keep kids on track. These go-karts have 13 horsepower Honda one-speed engines and reach speeds up to 55mph. Fans were able to race the cheerleaders and Broncos alumni. The Larimer Lounge hosted the Levi’s Commuter Bike Shop for its Denver stop on August 14th. All services including tire patches and make-your-own tool wrap were free. I have a feeling these might be one of the few small venues they perform at before hitting the big venues like Red Rocks full force. Last night Epernay Champagne Lounge hosted 303 Magazine’s Open Casting Call for runway models to work Denver Fashion Week. DFW is one of 303 Magazine’s biggest events of the year so for the first time in three years they opened up the casting for models. Epernay was packed with a line to the back wall. Models from all over town walked their walk after they spoke with the panel of judges. On Friday, March 1st TUACA Drinks & Ink 2013 took over Stoney’s Bar in Grill. It was a celebration of tattoo and cocktail artistry. Bartenders competed for a tattoo from the tattoo legend himself Corey Miller who was the host and one of the judges of the evening. Everyone watched as each bartender put their spin on a drink using TUACA, then the judges decided which one stole their taste buds. One lucky female bartender won, and will be inked by Corey Miller the next day. Not only were there drinks being mixed, DJ RAVIDRUMS showed up and put on a wild show. He remixed songs while adding his own beats using an out of this world drum set. At one point later in the night they topped things off with making a Harlem shake video and getting everyone involved. Overall Drinks & Ink 2013 was a good time for everyone involved and be looking for it next year!

Fans were treated to a special live set by the Kyle Hollingsworth Band (of String Cheese Incident) for the 4th annual Kyle\'s Brew Fest at the Boulder Beer Company. On tap were more than 60 craft beers from 30 different breweries, mostly local but some coming from as far as Bend, Or and San Diego, CA. As part of the ticket price, one of a kind pint glasses for the event were handed out to taste all the beers from. The masses were awake early for the Third annual Fitness on the Rocks mass workout and health expo was yesterday at Red Rocks. The event had some fantastic sponsors and featured various fitness competitions and classes. Participants enjoyed yoga, Zumba, total body combat and tug-of-war. Cirque du Soleil\'s Amaluna was Denver\'s first look at this spectacular, exotic, and gravity defying production. Audiences were engaged by performers and transported back to a whimsical coming of age time between a girl on the brink of womanhood and the man who is trying to win her heart despite all obstacles. Exquisite scenes, makeup, and costume design graced the stage while acrobatics and high flying aerials kept everyone on the edge. Show founder is Guy Laliberté. On Saturday night, Railroad Earth played an amazing show for a crowd of already adoring fans. Forming in 2001, this bluegrass band from Stillwater, NJ, consisting of Todd Sheaffer Tim Carbone, John Skehan, Andy Goessling, Carey Harmon, and Andrew Altman showed us what true musical talent and mastery of their instruments looks like and the group of, \"hobos\" as their fans are referred to, danced all night! On Saturday Josh, Denver\'s authority of local craft coffee, took us on a 21 mile bike ride around the downtown area to the 6 newest local independent coffee shops that serve the very finest the Denver has to offer in good coffee. We started at Purple Door coffee, and then ventured to Boxcar Coffee, Black Black Coffee (Josh\'s shop), Steam coffee, Little Owl, and finally came to the Novo coffee shop on 16th and Glenarm. Each shop served up espresso pulled with the utmost in care and expertise to fuel our bike ride. The A-Oks, The Potato Pirates, Be Like Max (NV), The Last Slice (OK), and The Repercussions played an amazing show at the Gothic Theater Friday night, showcasing some of the best that Denver has to offer in the ska scene. Bottle Rock It was a musical experience in a venue you wouldn\'t expect. DJs, Mike Disco, Styles Davis, Drop Logic, and Daniel Ash pumped EDM and mash-ups through the airwaves. The Museum of Outdoor Art in Englewood hosted the Underground Music Showcase kick off party on July 9th. Food, drink, and live music created the perfect cocktail for the launch of the 400 hundred bands that will play over the four day Underground Music Showcase from July 18th through July 21st. The 2013 Cherry Creek Arts Festival took over the streets of Cherry Creek, Denver from July 5th - 7th. Over 250 exhibitors were involved in this years display, including many award-winning artists, emerging artists, and local heroes in the art world. La Piccola Venezia - a little piece of Venice in Cherry Creek North hosted a night of art and fine food. Artists including Michelle Van Hoesen displayed works of art in the form of uniquely crafted masks. Workshops will become open this week for you to paint your own crafted Venetian mask! Denver\'s Epic Beer Festival celebrated craft beer at its finest and beer lovers everywhere came out to indulge. The festival featured 160 craft breweries and over 350 beers to sample. Rollin’ Dreams Summer Festival is a car show with spectacular classic cars on display with awards in eight different categories. The Foundation was formed in honor of Austin Williams, a student at Thunder Ridge High School who battled Rhabdomyosarcoma cancer and who had a major passion for classic cars. His dying wish was to own his “dream car,” a 1972 Chevy Chevelle. Thanks to the generosity of many in the community, Austin was able to live out his dream before his passing in March of 2013. He and his family formed the “Rollin \' Dreams Foundation” to share his passion for cars and provide activities and distractions for kids fighting cancer. The fifth anniversary of the 1940‘s ball was celebrated last night at the Boulder Airport. Guests danced the night away to the music of the Hot Tomatoes while WWII bomber planes flew overhead. Swing dancers, re-enactors, vintage cars, costume contests and aerialists made this event extraordinary! On June 12 Elway’s Restaurant in Cherry Creek hosted the Hot Rocks Griller Challenge. Denver’s best chefs got together to compete for all the glory of the Best Slider in Denver. 16 different sliders all with there own sides were available for tasting and voting. 303 Magazine’s Food and Booze editor Brittney Werges found the Tag Godzilla Burger to be one of the best. Celtic Woman was absolutely amazing last night. Colorado definitely showed them some love. There were people who had never seen them before and fans who have gone to 150 plus shows. Since the release of their Grammy nominated 2010 album, Backatown, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue has become quite popular while winning hordes of new fans and performing on over five continents. Their mix of old school, jazz, funk and soul and hip hop beats warmed up the crowd nicely for BHTM. Big Head Todd and the Monsters, (BHTM), was founded in Colorado in 1986 and has over three million album sales to date. They’ve sold out in their home state’s Red Rocks Amphitheater seven times now. BHTM is gearing up to give their fans exactly what they want this year, a headline tour with cross-country stops at intimate theaters, and two full sets every night. Wash Park injected itself with a shot of volleyball-adrenaline, as nets took over the grassy plains and competitors and spectators came to enjoy some action on the fields. Wash only permits 2 tournaments per year and this is one of them! The Beach Bash doubles doubles volleyball tournament takes place each year early in June. Mens, women\'s and mixed matches were all represented. This was the first Everything Recycled Art Market in Lakewood, Colorado. The Recycle Santa Fe Art Festival was the inspiration for the Everything Recycled Art Market. The exhibition featured over 30 artists at the 40 West Gallery that showcased vibrant color and art that captured the beauty of repurposed and reinvented \"trash.\" All work displayed was original and at least 75% recycled. The criteria for recycled artwork was using elements that were manufactured and would otherwise be discarded. On Saturday May 25th Magness Arena was filled for DUPB Musicfest 2013 presented by: DUPB, 97.3 KBCO, Westword, & Amplitude Entertainment. The band Places kicked things off to a great start followed by Thao & the Get Down Stay Down who rocked the whole arena. They had the whole place quite lively by the time Mayer Hawthorne took to the stage with their groovy love songs. Then The Head and The Heart appeared to top off the whole Musicfest by playing a mix of old and brand new music which was quite a treat for all who were there. Overall DUPB Musicfest 2013 was a giant success and everyone who came out had a wonderful time. We hope to see you there next year!
Larimer Square hosted the “Arts Young Professional Friend- Raiser” featuring summer fashions and summer arts. It took place at the Westin\'s Downtown Pool and Patio Deck offering spectacular views of the mountains and clock tower. View House launched its Summer Sports Leagues and outdoor lawn festivities on Sunday to overwhelming success! Players signed up for volleyball tournaments where losing teams had to face the dunk tank and get wet. Ladder Ball, Corn Hole, Bocce Ball, Giant Jenga and even the occasional water balloon fight all graced the lawn in front of cabanas catered with buckets of beer. Also on hand were snow cones, cotton candy, and festive drink buckets to keep the crowd re-energized! Activities didn\'t end there as an obstacle course, tug of war, and more volleyball ensued for the quest for the Wilson (from Cast Away) Volleyball Trophy Cup. On friday May 17th the Bluebird Theater was packed for Black Super Moth Rainbow\'s show. While everyone was eagerly awaiting for them to take the stage Oscillator Bug was getting things warmed up. Followed up by The Hood Internet who kicked things up a level, with his wild lights and crowd pleasing music. By the time Black Super Moth Rainbow took over the stage the theater was filled wall-to-wall with very excited fans. They played in the darkness as interesting imagery played on the wall behind them which was fitting for their sound. Overall the whole night was a fun time and I am sure everyone there left satisfied.

The Annual Derby Party took place saturday outside on the green lawn in front of the Denver Performing Arts Complex. Every year Denver is proud to host the largest Kentucky Derby party outside of Churchill Downs. All of the proceeds from the event were given to a lucky participant of the Sean Ranch Lough Memorial Scholarship. This year the winner of the full ride scholarship to Colorado State University was Magdalena Stroud. They also announced a wonderful surprise when they decided to also award a full ride scholarship to Magdalena’s twin sister Allegra Stroud. Now both sisters will be attending CSU together in the fall. They also had a Nordstrom hat competition for the women who came sporting outrageous works of art on their head. Winners were awarded jockey club seats as well as gift cards to Nordstrom. Overall everyone was having a ball enjoying free food and drinks, entertainment, and nice weather throughout the afternoon. With it all building up to watching the big race live on a huge HD screen. The whole event was wonderful and we hope to see you there next year!
The Denver Derby Party happens to be the 2nd biggest party event for the Kentucky Derby in the Nation every year. Held at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, the sold out event was a huge success leaving their guests satisfied and entertained. The party kept going downtown after the races had ended. The immaculately dressed crowd showed up in their best dresses, elaborate hats, and bowties as they toasted to the days succeses. Steam opened it\'s doors much to the delight of the Platt neighborhood on Saturday. Weekend warriors, bikers, joggers, families and friends all gathered to take part in the festivities and see owner Hani Yaafouri, DU Alumni. Last night Tacks Night Club in Denver hosted one of the many Denver Has Talent: Karaoke Idol tournaments in May this year. The grand prize for the competition is $2000 in cash, prizes, and a recording and licensing package. Amateur night is over because everyone I saw take the stage was impressive. Hundreds of Colorado gay and lesbian couples celebrated at the McNichols building Civil Soiree party before they put an official government seal on their relationships. In the early hours of Wednesday morning, the state\'s civil-unions law took effect. Couples are now legally able to apply for civil unions licenses for the first time in history. The 1st Annual High Times Magazine Cannabis Cup was record breaking for 2013. Being the first cannibus cup ever in the United States, the event is planning on changing locations for next year! 4/20 at Casselman\'s Bar & Venue was an unforgettable night thanks to High Times! The bar was packed with reggae music fans excited for Barrington Levy. With opening acts from The Melodians and Colorado\'s own P-Nuckle to put people in the right mindset. Not to mention a surprise appearance from RUN DMT, who turned things up a bit. Once Barrington Levy came out the whole place was feeling the vibe and were ready for his legendary music. Overall it was the perfect after party for the High Times 4/20 rally in Denver, with everyone clearly having a good night.
The Highland Tavern hosted a private viewing party for TLC’s Four Houses Colorado episode in Denver last night. Denver’s own Liza Kampstra held the event for friends and family to see if her house would win the $10,000 prize. In the 1-hour episode of Four Houses 4 homeowners visit each others homes and give them points for originality, livability and overall impression. The second night of Denver Fashion Weekend brought to Denver by Schomp MINI, 303 Magazine, and F.E.M. was a very fashion forward event. All of Denver’s finest came out sporting the latest in fashion, ready to see an eyeful of hair styles and beauty trends in the runway hair show. Backstage the models provided by Donna Baldwin Agency and Wilhelmina Denver were getting prepped to hit the runway. While in the club above Fashion Week goers were mingling, getting drinks, and having their photo taken by one of the many photographers covering the event. 303 Magazine also released their Spring Issue which, I highly recommend that you grab a copy if you did not already do so. The Runway Hair Show on night two of Denver Fashion Weekend brought to you by Schomp MINI was quite a head turner. With lovely models provided by Donna Baldwin and Wilhelmina Denver strutting their stuff down the runway. Not to mention hair and makeup that left everyone wanting more. Many wonderful spring beauty looks made a striking arrival thanks to the Blow Dry Lounge, Berenices, The Look, and J. Audrey Hair Studio in the first act. Then the second act wrapped the Runway up nicely with El Salon, Antoine Du Chez, Mode, and Halo Salon. We saw everything from braids, faux bob’s, to crimped hair for the spring/summer season hair trends. Local Segments were introduced by Fox\'s Chris Parente and included Piazza, 50, Covello, Incroyables, Rachel Marie Hurst, and Fallene Wells. The body art exhibit was inpired by Georgia O\'Keefe. Colorado Agency for Jewish Education presented an evening with A.J. Jacobs. He is an editor-at-large at Esquire Magazine, author of three New York Times bestsellers, and periodic commentator on NPR. Guest came together to support a good cause and were entertained with eclectic stories and good company. CAJE is a beneficiary agency of the Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado. On Saturday, March 30th several people put on their fanciest attire and headed to Mercury Cafe for Fancy Plants Vegan Prom. Presented by NOOCH, Plants and Animals, and Vegan Coloradical this was not only a one of a kind prom but for a good cause as well. All the proceeds from the event benefited the Peaceful Prairie Sanctuary. They also had an assortment of free vegan food that was provided along with tables to sit down. Even though several couples took to the dance floor all night long. Everyone enjoyed dancing to the music of 80’s cover band Chadzilla and the Asteroids. They also raffled off some wonderful prizes throughout the night from their sponsors, NOOCH, Bee Free Honee, and Earth Balance. Prom goers were also able to take a prom photo. Overall Vegan Prom was a hit and hopefully they raised a good amount for a good cause!
On Friday night April 5th, Beta Night Club was packed with music goers ready for a lively show put on by Xilent. Xilent A.K.A. Eryk Kowalczyk is a dub step, drum & bass, and electro house music producer living in the U.K. The night was nicely warmed up with great music from Subliminal, followed by Mystical Influence before Xilent took to the stage. There were also some other D.J.s playing upstairs in case the music downstairs was not enough to fill your ears with. Overall the club was filled with people enjoying great music and having a fun night.
Last night in Greenwood Village m.Pulse opened their 4th location in Colorado. The one stop shop for your beauty needs m.Pulse is a IPL hair removal and photo rejuvenation center. They treat everything from acne to ageing and even have a special treatment for your hands! The Ladies were sporting fantastic spring fashion and the Fellas were dressed to the nines. The Ogden was packed last night for the sold out show. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds took the stage after the lovely Sharon Van Etten. Her bluesy voice sent shivers through the crowd as people swayed and danced. Nick Cave sang to the crowd from the edge of the stage and the Bad Seeds played flawlessly. Epernay Lounge and Macy\'s hosted the Official Derby Party Kickoff on Thursday night! It was one of party goers last chances to secure tickets to one of Denver\'s biggest and best fund raisers - Derby Party. DJ Bones spun records to guests as they sipped on featured drinks Churchill and Baby\'s Bourbon Sour featuring Hendrick\'s Gin and Hudson Whiskey. Epernay Lounge celebrated their Official Champagne Lounge Grand Opening last Saturday with beautifal people and sparkling champagne. Epernay was packed with people enjoying drinks, sushi, and dance music. The private Lounge curtains created the perfect spacial experience for private events, and for intimate gatherings. The event included everything from red carpet, to live entertainment, photographers, special tastings from their dining room menu, and signature cocktails that Epernay\'s bar talent have personally crafted specifically with their guests in mind. The Oriental Theater was proud to present: Aaron Carter, Carson Allen and Petrel. The amount of screaming girl fans waiting for Aaron Carter was incredible. And being in the crowed taking pictures was crazier than any show I\'ve been too. Fans definitely showed their love that night. Carson Allen killed it again playing an amazing show and leaving everyone with awe and wonder in their faces. And the band Petrel surprised everyone. This was the the first time I have heard of them and They gained many fans that night, including myself. It was a night of great music, memories and crazy fun!

The FIFA World Cup Qualifer took place on Friday night at Dick Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City Colorado. USA vs Costa Rica was quiet a loud crowd. With extreme weather of harsh snow, the crowd was still crazy for the game, and the USA had a proud victory, beating Costa Rica 1-0. Saturday March 16th was a chilled and grey day but that did not stop people clad in green from enjoying the St. Patty’s Day Parade. Blake Street was filled to the gills with Irish Pride and silly hats. The parade itself was full of marching bands, clowns, and even pirates dancing to Gangnam Style. On Saturday night The Ogden Theatre was packed with a rowdy crowd ready for G. Love & Special Sauce. First John Fullbright started things off to get the crowd moving with his unique folk/blues sound. Their music was the perfect way to prepare the crowd for G. Love. Once G. Love & Special Sauce took over the stage everyone was ready for their quirky off beat take on hip-hop. Their stage presence was just as lively as their music, drawing the crowd in. They came all the way from Philadelphia where they are known for their laid back blues that encompasses classic R&B. As for the night they related to several fans in Denver and spread the G. Love.
Viewhouse opened it\'s doors to delighted downtown patrons looking for the new hot spot to be. Overlooking Market Street and The Ballpark, VH served complimentary drinks and items from it\'s trendy menu. Proceeds went to Ballpark Neighborhood Association. This years SnowBall Music Festival held in Winter Park ran very smoothly and kept the crowd raging through the cold. Everyone was bundled up in snow attire in order to endure the whole night. Polica took the Main Stage by storm with her surprisingly mighty voice. While Teed got people all warmed up in the Groove Tent. Just in time for Datsik to really get the night turnt’ up. During the night the Groove tent was packed so tightly that people could rely on others for support when dancing on the ice rink-like footing. Portugal The Man provided a nice change from the groove tent to enjoy some non-electronic music. Then finally Pretty Lights hit the Main Stage and powered through the end of the night in his visually awe-ing fashion. Lazers where cascading over the crowd as everyone was feeling the SnowBall vibe. Overall it was a great second day that kept spirits high, and transitioned nicely into the third and final day!
The 2013 SnowBall Music Festival was one fired up Winter Wonderland. Day 3 wrapped things up nicely with a wide range of artists so everyone felt satisfied. Michal Menert got the good vibes going early on in the Groove tent. All day long people were wandering the grounds wearing anything from spirit hoods to galaxy leggings. Even Surfer Blood had an Abominable Snowman riding a stick pony make a debut appearance on the Main Stage. Aeroplane kept the crowed alive in the Groove tent with two fabulous ice queen dancers. Finally people made their way into the Ball room in time for a stand out performance from Ishi who really rocked out. Flosstradamus took things up a notch once the night set in, getting things a little dirty. Followed closely by Grizmatik’s wild show on the Main Stage, with streams of fog billowing out into the crowd. Flying Lotus closed down the Groove tent with a very creative set while the entire festival rounded out as STS9 brought things to a wonderful end. Overall SnowBall 2013 was a fun experience and hopefully you will be there next year!
This year Winter Park was home to the three-day music festival SnowBall. From Friday March 8th so Sunday March 10th the bundled music fans raged despite the cold and the snow. It was a well organized event with everything from turkey legs to furry hats for sale on the extensive grounds. Bonfire Dub, Robert Randolph and Grizmatic took the main stage throughout the last day of the festival. The Grove tent was teeming with people as Areoplane and Flosstradamus put on excellent shows. Vail Mountain\'s momentous first US Open exceeded all expectations, with the best snowboarders in the world treating a record-breaking crowd to some of the most progressive riding in the history of the sport. Shaun White put together an unbeatable second run at the US Open with a top score of 95.58, earning him his fifth US Open men’s halfpipe victory. Fourteen-year-old phenom Ayumu Hirano secured second place at the US Open with his game-changing style. Kelly Clark in women\'s comps earned an unprecedented sixth US Open halfpipe championship title. White and Clark both pocketed $45,000. Not a bad day for boardin! Legendary Jake Burton, founder of Burton joined the awards ceremonies. Spectators cheered on their favorite athletes and took part in the festivities in town. Winter Park was host to the SnowBall music festival March 8 through March 10th. It was a frozen wonderland of crazy hats and thumping light shows. On SnowBall day 2 the Main Stage was lit up by Polica, Portugal. The Man, and Pretty Lights. Datsik had the crowd raging in the Grove Tent and Rubblebucket put on an energetic show in the Ballroom Tent. From the first beat to the last flicker of the lights people had a great time. Denver Natives Churchill entertained the enthusiastic crowd at the Ogden Theatre with Ha Ha Tonka and The Autumn Film. Recently coming off of Jimmy Kimmel and from their busy tour schedule, Churchill said coming back to Denver was something that drove them and had been looking forward to it for some time. The First Annual Winter Thaw was held at The Boathouse of The Ginn Mill! A celebration for warm weather being right around the corner and a non profit event where all proceeds went to benefit a local foundation, Sense of Security, a local charity that provides a sense of security from financial hardship and enhance the quality of life for Colorado breast cancer patients in treatment. Live music was brought to you by That Eighties Band, and they rocked all night.
Funhouse Saturday’s at Beta Nightclub! Marshall Monica and Dragon threw down some beats before James Zabiela made his appearance. Known for his turntable skills, this UK DJ and producer had the the place jumping with his mixes. ‘Born Electric 001’is his recently released album. His signature style of fusing breakbeat and house music showcases his creative streak and are some of his best mixes yet. Find yourself and your friends in this album!
The Burton US Open was held this year for the first time in Vail, Colorado. A competition for purely snowboarding, people from all over the world traveled to see these amazing athletes of all ages compete on the Half Pipe and Slopestyle. 303 Magazine captured the Half Pipe on this trip. Taking home the gold on the Half Pipe was legendary snowboarder Shaun White, followed by fourteen year old Ayumu Hirano in second place, and Louie Vito in third. Taking home gold for women\'s pipe was Kelly Clark, followed by Hannah Teeter in second, and Arielle Gold in third. These athetes not only take home medals, but also pize money in the thousands. Many sponsors attended this event as well such as Mt. Dew, Paul Mitchell, Boarding 4 Breast Cancer, Nokia, GoPro, and many more. On Febuary 22nd Summit Music Hall was filled with nerds excited for Nerd Prom 2013 feat. Bop Skizzum. People were dressed up in everything from prom attire, cosplay wear, to the nerdiest outfits Denver has ever seen. The music opened with Medic followed by The Messers who got things off to a good start. Once Filthy T took the stage all the nerds were out on the dance floor. Bop Skizzum rounded out the night perfectly with Super Mario related tunes mixed into their set. They even had a part where breakdancer’s took over the dance floor and showed off their sweet moves. They also had a photo booth where people could hold up signs with texting terms like LOL and OMG, or choose from other nerd related props. Overall the Nerd Prom was a success and everyone got their nerd on.
303 Magazine hosted PURIM\'s 80\'s Party. Miss Israel International greeted guests and posed with party goers in 303\'s Photo Booth. A LIVE MEGILLAH reading by Rabbi Israel Ort of Chabad of Auraria Campus was given and 80\'s and Israeli music followed - played by Yala Balagan. Rafi Daugherty was the MC for the event. The Colorado Convention Center was proud to host the North American Handmade Bicycle Convention. Some of the best bicycle builders from around the world came to Colorado to show what makes them the best and most unique. Anywhere from bikes build straight from bamboo by the company Boo, to bikes made completely from wood by a company straight from Tokyo called Sano Magic which specializes in Wooden bikes and is also an amazing boat builder. At the convention you could find: Metrofiets Cargo Bikes, Bromptom (folding bike), Bread Winner, and many more.

The event featured samples of brews from Left Hand, Paradox, and Great Divide Breweries. The new liquor store sells wine, beer, and spirits from local and imported breweries. Life in Color was by far the most exciting and fun event of the year so far. CU Boulder Balch Field House turned from a running track to a live canvas. Everyone wearing white and ready to have the time of their lives. Before the big blast the crowd was teased with a little paint, but once the timer hit zero the crowd was blasted with paint canons and water guns filled with paint and confetti. It was a paint massacre. Music all night by Basscrooks, Seven Lions and Borgore! This event is fun for anyone, it doesn\'t matter if you like the music or not. This was a fun night for sure.
The classy sushi and champagne bar Epernay has its grand opening party last night. The theater district welcomed the classy sushi and champagne bar with a red carpet and 303 Magazine. The legendary, The Who, stopped in Denver to play a show at The Pepsi Center, last Tuesday night. With a 30 min. opening set of classic rock band, Vintage Trouble, who had crazy energy on stage, the show was a hit for patroning fans from all over. Last night at Cry Baby Ranch an unexpected term of events occurred. People of all ages dressed to the nines came together for a fun night full with lively people, food and lots of tequila. Cry Baby Ranch presented designers such as Liberty Boot CO, Comstock Heritage and Christy Lea Payne. Beautiful pieces such as awesome buckles to boots painted to portray Jimmy Hendrix were displayed and up for sale last night. Cry Baby Ranch was the place to be last night.

Art of Winter presents Westword White Out. An amazing fashion show and art show took place at The McNichols Civic Center on February 7th. The show featured fashion from: Equillibrium, Akomplice, True Love, B. Shigley, Mona Lucero, Common Era, CSU department of Design & Merchandising, Goldyn, and D\'Lola Couture.
Mile High Station hosted Carnivale – A Night in Rio on 2/2/13. The flavor of Brazil was in the air as this fundraiser for Denver Kids, Inc went into full swing. The Denver Kids, Inc organization looks after at-risk youth with an emphasis on getting the kids to their high school graduations. The drink of the night was an authentic Brazilian Caipirinha, which fit nicely with the women in feathers and sequins tearing up the dance floor. The SIA Snow Show took place this year in Denver at The Colorado Convention Center. To kick off the five day event, SIA launched the fashion show of Snow Sport clothing from around the world. Each walk consisted of clothes for Youth, Women and Mens Snowboarding, High Fashion, and Technical Skiing. These garments were focused on Colors, Material, Prints and Patterns. On Thirsty Thursday in Boulder Tribal Seeds and Stick Figure played a show at The Fox Theater! These two upcoming bands are on a two week tour from California, and were excited to stop in Boulder and Colorado Springs. BYOB stands for Bring Your Own Beamer - and that\'s now a BMW. BYOB has already taken place in over a dozen cities worldwide, involving artists of an extended and dispersed networked community with artists using projectors to display their exhibits. Originally conceived by Berlin-based artist Rafael Rozendaal, Organized by Bryan Leister - this event brought together 20+ Denver-based artists to create a collaborative happening of moving light and sound. Various interpretations of the initial idea of BYOB have spawned several different approaches that include ad hoc installations, performances, and other immersive environments of DIY spontaneity and experimentation. Il Cattivo is an awesome local band from denver and Quicksand homeland is New York. The Bluebird was packed as full as it could be with amazing fans enjoying awesome music.

Last night the Fox Theater in Boulder hosted Reel Big Fish. After 20 years of playing the fellas were as energetic and charismatic as ever. The first opener Dan Potthast was charming and entertaining as he riled up the crowd. The Pilfers took the stage second. The crowd was part of the show with call and response bits in the songs as well as an impromptu dance party on the pit floor. Reid Speed has been a dancefloor destroyer for over a decade, and is second to none when it comes to heavy bass genre mashing. She currently runs Play Me Records, a leader in dubstep and fidget house, while simultaneously holding down a full production and tour schedule. As one of the first US DJs to champion speed garage & 2 step, her new label\'s quick rise to the top of the dance charts reflects her continually forward thinking musical evolution. Ishea moved the crowds. His production work can be described as diverse but still dance floor oriented. Also mashing on the tables and based out of Boulder, Patrick \"Dirt Monkey\" Megeath has been producing for nearly 10 years, starting with hip-hop and breaks before trying his hand at dubstep. He can be described as innovative original productions and having energetic stage presence.
On the first weekend of the new year of 2013, local Denver bands Perfect Like Me, Caramel Carmela, and Aim 2 Miss rocked out at The Gothic Theater in Englewood. These bands are unique with not only their sound, but also their energy on stage. The venue was filled with people of all ages, with origanl fans as well. Three Legged Fox, an Alternative Rock/Reggae band really threw down the beats and got The Bluebird Theater warmed up for some MJ hits. Who’s Bad; The Michael Jackson Tribute Band rocked the sold out house and got everyone dancing. Who’s bad is the longest-running MJ tribute band and the only one to predicate his timely passing. Hailing from Chapel Hill, North Carolina the six-piece band played countless MJ hits while dancing to synchronized routines and sporting glitzy jackets and sequin studded hats.
