It is the rhythmic beat of drums and feet, the throaty wails and the shaking of rain sticks. Pooyukitchchum/Ipai native James Luna will present a performative lecture at the museum on August 23 in which he will present his views on American Indian life and stereotypes throughout history. Visual examples, monologues and other performance techniques will aid in his presentation as well as in his installation Making Do, which will be showing October 3 and 5. Luna’s powerful performances are a driving force in performance art today and this limited engagement is a can’t miss opportunity.
