If you haven’t heard of Uber yet, WAKE UP! Uber, “Everyone’s Private Driver,” launched early September in Denver and has been transporting my stiletto-boot-wearing, tired feet all over town since then.

Uber is an on-demand car service that allows everyone to have a private driver experience via iPhone, Android, SMS, or web-requests.

By private driver, I mean, gone are the days of smelly yellow cars, making several calls to locate your driver and the dreaded anxiety over whether your cab has a credit card machine on hand because you spent your last dollar doing something you probably shouldn’t have.

Press a button from the Uber app and a swanky car will arrive in 5 to 10 minutes. No need to carry cash, the app keeps your credit card information on file for convenience purposes.  Finally, a reliable transportation alternative in the Mile-High.

With the new year approaching, Uber has given their iPhone app an overhaul.

Don’t worry Android users, your app is next in line for a tune-up. Here’s what’s under the hood of Uber 2.0 for iPhone:

New Paint, Chrome Rims

They’ve rebuilt the entire app from the ground up, with a focus on making it more beautiful and intuitive. There are redesigned icons, animations, receipts, and menus but the changes aren’t just superficial. The Uber app is finally as elegant and comfortable as the ride.

No Sticker Shock

Rates for all Uber car types are now easy to find and understand. Enter your pickup and dropoff location to see an instant, accurate estimate of how much your ride will cost. We’ve also added clear, simple explanations of rate exceptions like Surge Pricing.

Street Smarts

It’s even easier for your Uber driver to find you with our new foursquare-powered location database. Get picked up at a bar, restaurant, or landmark—even if you don’t know the exact address. Uber 2.0 also automatically remembers your most frequent pickup locations, like your home or office.

Pedal to the Metal

They’ve optimized our networking stack (our engineers assure us that’s a real thing.) Now Uber 2.0 provides fast, accurate, real-time availability on all Uber vehicles.

Tuning the Transmission

They’ve also added iPhone 5 support, fixed bugs, added a full screen map view, streamlined credit card management, and improved social media integration and promotions.

So go ahead and download the app, I promise you won’t regret it.
