December is upon us, so in between shopping, ski resorts finally opening and Christmas music playing, find some time to get to a concert. Picking our reccommendations was really hard this week with so many great acts and lineups all over town. Whatever your taste in music, price range or neighborhood, we have you covered with great concerts happening all week.

Monday, November 28

Recommended: Two Door Cinema Club @ The Fillmore Auditorium

Two Door Cinema Club is back in town promoting their third studio album Gameshow. It has been four years since their last studio release and the time has been well used. Gameshow offers much of what originally put Cinema Club at the top of the indie charts and layers in new elements, especially the sounds of the ’80s. Have fun dancing the night away with these Irish boys and their attractive electro-pop.

Night Riots is headlining their own tour to promote their sophmore album Love Gloom, as well as some material you may remember from their appearance at Riot Fest earlier this year. The band, whose influences range from AFI to Arctic Monkeys, have been garnering attention for their soulful lyrics and range in musical style. The whole lineup is slated to be a great night for lovers of rock and at $7.50 for general admission there is no reason not to check this show out.

Wednesday, November 30

Recommended: Drowning Pool @ The Roxy

Cult classic, hard rock group Drowning Pool will be at The Roxy just in time for humpday. The band who found major success in the early 2000’s is out on the road again encouraging mosh pits and head banging across the country. Drowning Pool is continuing to tour following this summer’s “Make America Rock Again” super tour which was designed to have harder rock acts like Drowning Pool, Puddle of Mudd, Alien Ant Farm and others hit the road in the hopes of re-energizing the rock scene in America.

Recommended: Greensky Bluegrass @ The Ogden

Thursday kicks off three days of Greensky Bluegrass at The Ogden theater. The five-piece ensemble is touring following their ninth album release. Greensky Bluegrass inspires jamming out and dancing at all their shows, and 303 had the chance to interview them prior to their Red Rocks performance this past summer. Prolific and talented, it will be worth your while to check them out at least one night if not all three.

Children of Bodom are expecting quite the rowdy crowd Friday night at Summit Music Hall. The Finnish death metal band has been relentlessly touring and recording since their formation in 1993. The group has undergone a lot of changes in that time but they have consistently perfected their sound and performance. Children of Bodom and their cult following will absolutely round out your Friday night plans.

Saturday, December 3

Recommended: Dragonette @ The Bluebird

Dragonette’s sound and look are synth-pop perfection and their bubbly aesthetic will be at the Bluebird Saturday night to meet all your dancing needs. Their most recent album Royal Blues was released mid-November and promises the same deep lyrical content layered over poppy and melodic beats as their previous releases. But Dragonette’s newest album is a little different from their past material as the project is the first since the legal seperation of lead singer Martina Sorbara and bassist/producer Dan Kurtz. While both have publically committed to continuing their work together, their seperation caused them to collaborate more than usual with people outside of the project. Grab tickets below to check out their new work and catch all the feels.

Sunday, December 4

Recommended: Snoop Dogg @ The Fillmore Auditorium

Our Sunday funday pick this week is the famous and very stoned Snoop Dogg. It is difficult to say what Snoop Dogg’s most recent success is: this year’s album release Coolaid, his viral videos of him reacting to Kanye West’s latest public rant, or his activism and philanthropy over the past couple years. Snoop Dogg’s consistency on stage is well renowned, just make sure you can handle a fully hot-boxed Fillmore if you’re planning to attend.
