Pie and Beer, a New Torchy’s and Nine Other Events This Week

You never need an excuse to eat good food in Denver. The scene is rife with opportunities to enjoy some of the country’s finest food and drink all year round — but this week is Thanksgiving. If you have been hesitant, this is indeed the time to let loose. Many of the city’s top chefs are coming out to bring their A-game to this time of gratitude and feasting. There are also several great events unrelated to the big day providing  possible preparation and decompression, check the full list below.

Monday, November 21

Torchy’s Tacos Westminster Opening Party

When: Monday, November 21, 5 – 8 p.m.

Where: 7159 West 88th Ave, Westminster

Cost: Free

The Lowdown: The new Torchy’s location will celebrate their opening with free tacos, free drinks, chips, dips and giveaways. The full menu will also be available prior to their official opening the following day.

 

Pie & Beer Pairing at Ratio Beerworks

When: Monday, November 21, 6 p.m.

Where: Ratio Beerworks, 2920 Larimer St, Denver

Cost: $20

The Lowdown: Ratio Beerworks and The Long I Pie will come together for a rather timely pairing. The ticket will get you a sampling of four pies — including the salted honey lavander and spice apple cranberry — alongside beers that will likely yield something greater than the sum of their parts.

 

Tuesday, November 22

Last Day to Order Thanksgiving Pies from Second Home Kitchen and Bar

Cost: $36

The Lowdown: If you want to save yourself the hassle of baking your own pie, Second Home Kitchen has you covered. Apple, pumpkin and chocolate pecan will be available and made to order.

Wednesday, November 23

Thanksgiving Eve Under The Elm

Where: The Way Back, 4132 W 38th Ave, Denver

Cost: Only the cost of the meal.

The Lowdown: The Way Back will kick off the holiday season on their newly winterized patio. A new hot cocktail menu, fire pits and custom blankets provided by Berkeley Supply will ensure patrons can remain warm, cozy and festive.

 

Punch Bowl Social Denver 4th Anniversary Party

When: Wednesday, November 23 at 6 p.m.

Where: Punch Bowl Social, 65 Broadway, Denver

Cost: $10 for 2 drink tickets and light appetizers

The Lowdown: Punch Bowl Social Denver is turning four. To celebrate they will offer open gaming, a live DJ and two drink tickets for the cost of entry. All proceeds go to the Dumb Friends League. The celebration will continue on Black Friday with specials including a free shot of Wild Turkey when you bowl three strikes in a row. The November punch — a diabolical mix of El Jimador Reposado tequila, orange liqueur, mulled apple cider and apple pie shrub — will also be available to assuage the possible Turkey Day hangover.

 

Pick Up Day for Thanksgiving Meals from Wazee Supper Club and Roadhouse Boulder Depot

The Lowdown: For those looking to dine at home Wazee Supper Club and Roadhouse Boulder Depot are providing their superb take on the classic meal for easy pick-up. Sides include stuffing, green bean almondine, garlic mashed potatoes, gravy, dinner rolls and cranberry sauce.

A Taste of Uncorked Sushi

The Lowdown: Uncorked Kitchen will provide a mid-day class for anyone interested in learning to make sushi. You will learn to construct a California hand-roll and a spicy tuna roll under the tutelage of a friendly and constructive staff.

Third Annual Prototype Market

Where: The Craftsman and Apprentice, 1325 E 22nd Ave, Denver

Cost: Free!

The Lowdown: A day of prototypes, one-offs and exclusives from Craftsman and Apprentice’s favorite makers. Vendors include The Bungaloo, Kelley Schei, Relevant ReUse, Strange Dirt and many more. Free drinks from QC Malt, and free coffee from Copper Door Coffee Roasters, will enliven the scene.

Sunday, November 27

Distillery Tour at Whistling Hare

Cost: $20

The Lowdown: Small-batch distillery Whistling Hare will offer a walk through of their location, explaining how they produce their premium organic spirits. Owner and head distiller Howard Tuthill will provide background and an interactive demonstration. A custom cocktail of your choice is also included.
