ARISE vs Vertex: Battle of Music Festivals

So, music fanatics, which music festival did you buy your tickets to for the weekend? ARISE, located outside of Loveland, on a scenic ranch that boasts yoga, spirituality and environmental sustainability? Or Vertex, a festival in Buena Vista that comes from the genius creators of Electric Forest? I hate cliches as much as the next person, but this musical choice leaves you between a rock and a hard place. Therefore, 303 Magazine has curated two playlists for you, each filled with the lovely sounds that will be blasting your eardrums for three days at the festivals. It’s time to put your procrastinating away and decide which festival will get the insides of your pockets.

But first, you should probably discover what each festival is all about. ARISE features 7 stages that will have yoga, music (of course), films, workshops and art installations. Sitting on 100 acres in the foothill valley, you’ll enjoy waking up in the cool morning to dewy beer and downward dog poses. Many of the artists and musicians are Colorado natives, but headliners such as Ziggy Marley, Papadosio, Wildlight, Rising Appalachia, Jurassic5 and more will surely make a splash as well.

Down south at Vertex, you’ll be able to wade in a swimming lake (if you want) while taking breaks in between sets by Gramatik, Alabama Shakes, Odesza, Lettuce and more. Producer Jeremy Stein spoke with us over here at 303 about Vertex, and he painted a beautiful community that will feel inspired with the surrounding peaks and valleys. You’ll discover there are also field trips if you are feeling adventurous — from rafting to disc golf, make sure you prepare.
