It’s amazing how many different types of activities have been blended together into something entirely new and different this weekend–cosplay meets sports, art incorporates ink, a concert merges with politics, a speakeasy turns tiki bar, and ice cream gets paired with shandy brews. It feels as if Denver has relocated to the Twilight Zone for the next few days. That means it’s time to get weird for this nothing-short-of-interesting weekend lineup.

Star Wars Night

The Low Down: This week Coors Field will be transformed into a Star Wars-themed ballpark with costumes, a pregame, a parade and more. The price includes a seat in the special Star Wars seated section of the ballpark so you can join like minded fans for the Rockies vs. Braves game. In addition, you will receive a collectors edition Colorado Rockies and Star Wars t-shirt.

FutureFest

The Lowdown: Music, booze and fun with robots, all for a good cause. This Saturday you can view, and even fiddle with, some of the newest gadgets that technology has to offer. There will be robots, drones, projection mapping, virtual reality simulators and tons more for you to interact with, as well as cocktails and a DJ. The Low Down: This unique event has put together some great ideas to get political this weekend. Fighting against the Trans-Pacific Partnership, artists and actors will come together for a free event at Summit Music Hall–all you have to do is sign the petition (while supplies last). Anti-Flag will perform acoustically along with sets by Tom Morello and Denver’s very-own Flobots. On Sunday, Evangeline Lily (LOST, Ant Man, The Hobbit) will be hosting a lecture on how to fight the TPP.

The Low Down: This weekend-long event will be transforming the Colorado Convention Center with over 140 vendors. Booths will be set up with live art, tattooing, painters and more. Scheduled alongside the vendors are some live music options and performances. Show off your best ink this weekend and meet professional artists alongside like-minded individuals at this enormous tattoo convention.

Denver Beer Co.’s 1st Annual Ice Cream & Shandy Social

The Low Down: This fundraiser for BikeDenver will have local brews, biking gear and more on Saturday. If you’re not big on the brews however, Happy Leaf Kombucha and Infinite Monkey Theorem will also pour some refreshing beverages and food trucks will park on premise for your hunger fix.

Bubble Run

The Low Down: As Bubble Run says themselves, take this opportunity to enjoy being a kid again. This three-mile marathon is suitable for everyone–all that’s required is a ticket and a white tee. An Evening of Experimental Performance Art

Syntax Physics Opera will host a night of experimental art this Saturday with a packed lineup of diverse artists.
