Some of the most spectacular causes for celebration are anniversaries, and this is the weekend for them with multiple exciting annual events planned. Also this weekend, art is abundant  for those of you that like to peruse and drink, of course. Here we go, Denver—it’s another amazingly irresistible weekend in the Mile High.

AArow Summer Sign Spinning Competition

When: Thursday, July 14 at 5 p.m.

Where: Burns Park – Denver

The Low Down: You know those guys and gals that spin cardboard signs for businesses as you drive by. Have you noticed some really kick-ass? Over 25 of only the best Colorado sign-spinners will be competing for the championship in Burns Park this Thursday. In addition, several spinners ranked in the top 50 in the world will perform some of their best new tricks. We typically don’t include Thursday events, but this one is just so darn one-of-a-kind we couldn’t resist.

 Rebel Restaurant–One Year Anniversary

The Low Down: Rebel Restaurant is celebrating their one-year anniversary in a unique way–with a murder-mystery dinner party. The ticket for this scandalous culinary event includes a champagne toast and a four-course meal prepared by the head-chefs at Rebel. Will you be the one to solve the mystery of “The Butcher of Brighton Boulevard?”

Where: Audubon Center at Chatfield – 11280 S. Waterton Rd., Littleton

The Low Down: This 21+ event will feature the usual libations and appetizers, but with a fun (and somewhat terrifying) twist. There will be live snakes, and yes, you will be able to touch them. This adult class on rattlesnakes and bullsnakes will be both educational and fun as you learn about these reptiles with local herpetologist Bryon Shipley.

LODOlympics

When: Saturday, July 16, 3-9 p.m.

Where: Starts at Blake Street Tavern –2301 Blake St., Denver

Cost: $10-15; get tickets here

The Low Down: This unique take on a bar-crawl is a great excuse to let loose your competitive side this weekend. At five different LoDo bars will be five different drinking games–beer pong, corn hole, flip cup and more. Expect free food from burritos to brats, a raffle for Rockies tickets and huge prizes including a $500 private party at Blake Street Tavern. Will you be the champion to take it all home?

Denver Deluxe Music Festival

The Low Down: Park Burger in RiNo will host a one-of-a-kind music festival this weekend. Featuring performances by The Original Wailers, The Hip Abduction, ATOMGA and more, there really is some great music for everyone on the ticket. Gourmet burgers will be served-up throughout the day and cold brews poured by 10 Barrel Brewing Company. All of the proceeds benefit Denver Urban Gardens so embrace this opportunity to get out outside for a good time for a great cause.

The Low Down: The new craze of Pokemon Go has soared in popularity–crashing servers and taking over social media. Oh, and the usual pissing off the Westboro Baptist Church, discovering dead bodies and luring teenagers into armed robberies. Regardless, the innovative new app has reignited old passions for many of us. The Pokemon Trainer community in Denver will be meeting up for a fun-filled day of gotta-catch-em-all this Sunday.

Cost: Free (plus free drinks for neighborhood residents with tickets)

The Low Down: As of this week, Prospect Park is no longer a Denver neighborhood, rather a historical locale preserved in our memories. Soon-to-be called Union Station North, the decision was made by popular vote in hopes of revitalizing the area. The Low Down: Having opened last weekend, this interactive art exhibit is stirring-up quite the buzz. The exhibition uses motion detection technology in order to project your dance moves in large format. All of this is thanks to a collaboration between Legwork Studio’s and Denver’s very own dance company Wonderbound. Read more about the unique exhibit here.

The Low Down: Missed the Colorado Burlesque Festival? Worry not because this Sunday you can stop by the summer BBQ edition of this unique take on brunch. Enjoy some bacon ‘n’ eggs while burlesque performers strip-tease around you. The show starts at noon and make sure to get there on time as you know how brunch lines can get, and El Charrito has a packed lineup of performers you can find here. $7 gets you bottomless mimosas and there are still affordable VIP table options available for a limited time.

There will also be a rare opportunity to meet the artists so be sure to arrive early for this fun art event.
