It’s truly the weekend of festivals here in Colorado. From the Colorado Medieval Festival to the Crom West Comedy Festival, the Chalk Art Festival and the Peoples Fair, it’s going to be quite an exciting weekend. For those who have the itch to dance there’s also a Brody Jenner DJ set, a DJ competition at Church, and a foam party with live music and all. That’s only the start of what we’ve found for you over these next few days, so get ready, Denver–it’s time to conquer the weekend.

Colorado Medieval Festival

The Low Down: Travel back in time for this day of medieval festivities featuring street performers, dancers, over 60 vendors, and competitions between the Rocky Mountain Scottish Athletes. Alongside all of this will be live performances by Wendy Woo and actors reenacting the time-period throughout the festival by the Harrington Arts Alliance.

Denver Chalk Art Festival

When: Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. & Sunday, June 5 at 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

Where: Larimer Square, Denver

The Low Down: This weekend over 200 artists will take over Larimer Square for a unique and artistic festival fun for everyone. The art will cover four city blocks and additional events will be taking place such as Chalk & Chakras on Sunday at 11 a.m. which is also free to the public. Peruse the designs this weekend while taking in the upbeat atmosphere of Larimer Square for this one-of-a-kind event.

The Low Down: Denver’s original pool party is back! Our annual summer series returns for its eighth year and this time, it’s kicking off early. Hosted at the lakeside pool at the beautiful Rivera at Breakers Resort, we will have cabanas, live music, DJs, dancing and some of Denver’s most beautiful people. With a forecast in the 80s with not a cloud in sight, there’s no better place to be this Sunday. If for some reason you can’t make it, the party will continue the first Sunday of every month now through September. Get your season pass here.

End of the World – Zombie Pub Crawl

Where: Larimer St. between 20th & 21st. Crawl begins at The Ginn Mill – 2041 Larimer St., Denver

The Low Down: Beer, friends and zombies – this truly is a unique pub crawl, and lucky for Denver the tour will be stopping through on Saturday. If you’ve been having withdrawals from The Walking Dead finale, this may be the place to get your fix. Drink a beer at different downtown locations, and be sure not to get caught by the zombies on your way to the next stop. If you finish without having all of your flags stolen by the undead, you’ll have a chance at some cool prizes.

15 Minutes of Fame DJ Competition

Where: Church Nightclub – 1160 Lincoln St., Denver

Cost: $5; Free for ladies 21+

The Low Down: The largest DJ competition in Colorado continues its series of electronic-beat throwdowns. Come out and support your local DJ’s as they compete for big prizes as well as the opportunity to perform at nightclubs across the state and Global Dance Festival in July. Grand Opening of The Temple

When: Friday, June 3, 6–9 p.m.

Where: The Temple – 2400 Curtis St., Denver

Cost: Free

The Low Down: Temple is a self-described contemporary artist haven that will be opening this Friday night. The historical building has been repurposed, most previously being an underground DIY music and artist spot. Now, it’s filled with a zine library, a bakery and many studios for local artists. The People’s Fair

Where: Civic Center Park, Denver

Cost: Free

The Low Down: This free celebration of the Denver community will be returning for its 45th year this weekend in Civic Center Park. Over the course of only two days there will be over 80 artists and 80 bands along with over 20 local breweries serving up the libations. Art in the Park is one of the highlights of the event, but note it isn’t free – tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of.  To learn more, check out our guide to the event here.

The Low Down: Follow performers through a speakeasy antique shop in this mysterious immersive experience. Witness stories come to life through performers in dreamlike encounters in a theatrical 360º setting. Crom West Comedy Festival

The Low Down: This weekend Crom West Comedy Festival will bring together over 50 local and national comics at venues across Denver. Celebrating a DIY and punk-rock spirit as well as the cities it tours, this festival will be a unique weekend full of laughter. Matthew Morris–10 Year Anniversary Show

The Low Down: Matthew Morris Salon and Skincare is celebrating 10 successful years by putting on a vibrant, creative runway show featuring hits by The Blonds. The Blonds luxury brand is based in New York and is wildly known for it’s glamorous yet rebellious take on fashion. This event is set to bring in over 600 fashion heavyweights. Every anniversary the Matthew Morris empire never fails to bring it whether it’s a football field for a runway or models pouring out of a baroque limousine.

Foam Party

The Low Down: If you missed Foam Wonderland at The Fillmore last time it was in town, you’re in luck because it’s back and bigger than ever. The Foam Wonderland Force of Nature Tour will be stopping by the National Western Complex this Saturday for a fun-filled evening. Party it up with five-hundred others and an awesome lineup of artists for this frenzy of foam.

League of Lions

The Low Down: This one-of-a-kind interactive show is a great opportunity to try something different this weekend. Come share some good Denver community vibes with artists, DJs and friends alike.
