Glitter, tulle, and polka dots have never looked as good as they do on local blogger Alena Gidenko. Alena runs Moda Prints, a blog that dares you to forget modesty and layer as much faux fur, stripes and bold colors as possible. Inspired by the playfulness of Carrie Bradshaw and the classic old-time beauty of our growing city, her ensembles prove that life truly is a party that should be celebrated with endless amounts of all things sparkly and sweet.

Read her interview below to get to know the woman behind the style and see how she defines what it means to be fashionable in the Mile High.

“For this look I styled this polka dot skirt with a fun mixed printed top to make it pop. I have been obsessing over the faux fur throw this winter just because it goes with everything. I went a little crazy on the prints because I can never have enough. I added polka dot socks with my sparkly heels. This look is so fun and yet so different.”

Modaprints.com is… Oh, so Carrie Bradshaw inspired. I love bright colors and a ton of mixed prints. My blog is all about showing you how easy it is to think outside the box and wear something different and still look fabulous. From tulle skirts to styling your converses.

Where are your top three favorite (or unique) places to shop in Denver?

My most favorite place to shop in Denver is A-Line boutique. They have so many amazing pieces and sizes from 0-12. For an affordable route I go with Stitch Boutique. All of their prints and colors make me so happy. I also absolutely love thrifting and Rags Consignment in Boulder is one of my favorites. I love me some affordable name brands for a great price.

What’s your favorite clothing item or accessory right now?

My favorite item this winter is my faux fur throw. It goes with absolutely every piece I wear and its so warm. I feel like it brings out my fun colorful outfits in a really cozy way.

Define Denver’s Style in three words.

Cozy, Hip and Colorful.

For this look I am showing you all how you can wear shorts in the winter time by adding sheer black tights, booties or whatever shoes you would prefer. I added my favorite pair of shorts and a fun long sleeve striped top. Oh and don’t forget the faux fur throw. I love all the earth tone colors and the pop of pink on the lips was a perfect touch. Where do you get inspiration from in the city?

I absolutely love Union Station it reminds me so much of New York. I also get inspired by the area around The Source located in north Denver from the beautiful wall art to stunning bright colors. It totally screams Modaprints.

What’s the next trend to hit Denver?

I am hoping tons of prints and patterns

In this look I went a little Carrie Bradshaw. I recently have been obsessed with all the movies and shows of Sex In The City and need to get my hands on all the season’s of it. Carrie Bradshaw is always killing it. I added this polka dot skirt and decided to layer a tulle skirt underneath to make it fluffy and big. I also love how the pink tulle was peaking out underneath. I added a black crop top and it kinda looked like a dress when I completed it with a belt. I love being creative. This photo and outfit totally screams my funky style.

Denver Fashion Weekend is coming up. What are you planning on wearing?

I haven’t thought of what I will wear but definitely something that will catch everyones eyes. I’m still planning out the details. I will definitely be posting photos on my blog of my outfit.

What are your thoughts on the growing Denver Fashion scene?

I am so excited to see the fashion scene in Denver coming to life. From chic style to comfy looks. I feel like we have so many styles in Denver and it’s looking pretty amazing comparing to when I first started blogging over two years ago.

This look screams Valentine's Day and so Spring! I love this dress and all the fun pastel and floral colors. I added a white blouse underneath and yellow heels. For accesories I added a blue side bag. This dress is going to be perfect for Summer as well.
