With Great American Beer Festival coming to town, our city has been taken by all-things beer. But if you’re not a suds lover we’ve found a couple of events for you to enjoy. Are you a fan of breakfast foods? Both pancakes and coffee have national holidays. Also Iceland comes to Colorado with a special annual event dedicated to the unique cuisine of the North. Read on to see what you can’t miss.

The Low Down: Icelandic culture is being brought to Denver with a four-day exploration of Nordic food, booze, music, and film. Experience this wonderful culture by enjoying Icelandic chef, Ylfa Helgadóttir’s multi-course menu. Or join Coohills Restaurant & Bar mixologist and bar manager, Joshua Tallent, for a class on the history of Icelandic cocktails and a hands on class where you will learn to make numerous drinks with Ryka Vodka and a handful of other Icelandic Ingredients. Also an Icelandic-American concert will be held at Coohills, and will feature Icelandic artists such as My Bubba and Mr. Silla along with Denver’s Martina and James of Land Lines, and Natalie Tate and Anna Morsett. Finally, the Mayan theater will host an Icelandic film festival. The festival will screen a variety of Icelandic short films, and will wrap up with a Q&A panel discussion with Greta Olafsdorrir, both director and producer of  “Edie & Thea: A Very Long Engagement and The Brandon Teena Story.”

The Low Down: The Corner Office Restaurant + Martini Bar and Second Home Kitchen + Bar want to make sure you celebrate National Pancake Day the right way. The Corner Office’s breakfast and brunch menus will offer its buttermilk pancake, which includes warm maple syrup and butter, along with a banana walnut pancake, topped with caramelized banana and chantilly cream. If you can’t make it Saturday, be sure to try its velvet revolver, a red velvet pancake smothered in cream cheese frosting and topped with applejack syrup, on Sunday during its Disco Brunch. Second Home will offer a berry pancake, covered with delicious seasonal berries, maple syrup, and Tender Belly sausage, as a part of its daily breakfast menu. If you prefer brunch, its brunch menu will include its unique Graceland pancakes, which consists of banana pancakes served with peanut butter whipped cream and a side of bacon.

The Low Down: Many people enjoy a hot cup of coffee on a daily basis, so why not celebrate something that plays such a vital role in our everyday lives? Well, this year Dunkin’ Donuts, Krispy Kreme, LaMar’s Donuts and Peet’s Coffee & Tea all want to celebrate their love for coffee with you. Join Dunkin’ Donuts’ Denver, Edgewater, Thornton, and Westminster locations for a free medium cup of its signature dark roast coffee. Krispy Kreme, Lone Tree and Thornton, will offer a free 12 ounce cup of coffee all day, or for only $1, you can enjoy a 12 ounce mocha, latte, or iced coffee.
