For nearly three decades, legendary saxophonist Karl Denson has been getting crowds around the world out on the dance floor. Following a JAM-packed (pun intended) summer that included festival stops at Bonnaroo and Gathering of the Vibes, modern day funk icon Karl Denson–also known as “the king of the late night throwdown”– is heading to Ogden Theatre this Friday, Oct. 3, and Saturday, Oct. 4, with his supporting band Tiny Universe, for a two night celebration that will be nothing short of a huge party, and a tiny universe of its own.

Denson and his band will be joined by celebrated sacred steel guitarist Roosevelt Collier, a regular special guest at festivals and on tour with other artists- from Widespread Panic to Trombone Shorty to Yonder Mountain String Band. Collier, a south Florida native, is just now starting to get heavy with the Colorado scene. Last Spring he hosted a “Colorado Get Down” at Fox Theatre with members of Leftover Salmon and the Motet, and most recently he was an “Artist at Large” at Telluride Blues & Brews Festival in September.

Both Denson and Collier possess the unique ability to blend soul and funk influences with a wide array of genres, creating a sound that flows effortlessly– one you can’t help but get up and groove to.

If you’ve had a long week and are in need of a good dance and a big smile, head to Ogden Theatre this Friday, Oct. 3, and Saturday, Oct. 4, to experience Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe featuring Roosevelt Collier. The combination of these two live acts will give you the perfect blend of funky, soulful jams to heal you right up!
