Denver is an om town. There are believed to be more yoga teachers per capita in Colorado than any other location on Earth. It’s only fitting, then, that 9Health Fair invite this thriving community to its 35 year-old wellness event. Yoga Open, featuring free classes and lectures from many of the Mile High’s most sought-after instructors and experts, makes its overdue debut in conjunction with this year’s Health Fair on Sunday, May 4 at the Denver Convention Center.

Since 1980, 9Health Fair has been focused on providing Coloradans with access to affordable health screenings. Making tools available to those interested in taking responsibility for their well-being and increasing general health awareness has long been the event’s mission. The addition of yoga this year delivers the myriad benefits of an ancient practice to a wide audience. Local yogis Tyrone Beverly (Illustrating Union Yoga Tour), Patrick Harrington (Kindness) and Megan Zamora (Outlaw Yoga) are among those tapped to lead. Studios involved include Karma, Mudra, Peaceful Hills, 303 b, The Power of Om, The Freyja Project, Iyengar Center, Qi Flow, The River, Yoga Pod, Root and Belly Bliss. All skill levels are welcome and will be catered to via four unique areas: Foundations, Central, Level Two and Specialty. Area five is the Mindfulness and Nutrition Area, with talks on meditation, injury prevention, stress management and nutrition. Classes and lectures are free with advance registration at YogaOpen9HealthFair.com. Many health screenings are complimentary too, whereas tests necessitating a blood draw range from $15-$40.

May the Fourth plans? I’d love to see a Millennium Falcon crew posse in eagle pose. Let’s represent our om town, Denver yogis. For further information, YogaOpen9HealthFair.com
