Jake Bellows, known for his time (15 + years to be exact) with indie band, Neva Dinova, has set out to make a name for himself as an illustrious solo artist. Bellows is hoping to influence the world with his gift of music. His first step in the process? His debut solo album, New Ocean, released last August.

New Ocean is riddled with handsome lyrics, airy harmonies and Bellows’ intensely sensuous voice. Production on this record has been thought about, talked about, and in the works for a few years now. An album this rich and soulful takes time to create and Bellows was in no hurry to rush that purity.

I Know You starts the album, which accurately sets the scene for the entirety of this record. It’s no wonder this is Bellows favorite track, “To me it feels light and sincere while still narrating the idea that humans are very similar and we should not hide our true selves from one another.”

If that’s not enough to get your heart pumping, I Can’t Wait is three minutes of tenderness and passion, a beautiful serenade for lovers everywhere. “I can’t wait to see the day I hold your face between my hands.” Truly, the whole album is chock-full of love-drenched melodies and it’s certain that one of these tunes will resonate deeply with you.

Check out Jake Bellows playing solo Tuesday night, April 29th, at the Hi-Dive. His tour is in support of New Ocean and it ought to be an inspirational evening full of lovely tunes. Bellows plans to enlighten lives with his music. “I always hope that people and animals alike, will walk away from the show with some interesting new thoughts to consider and hopefully just a HINT of happiness. ”

Doors open at 8:30pm and Bellows is set to hit the stage at 9:30pm. Tickets are just $10.00.
