I have been living on the road lately for work so I apologize to my readers for the lack of gym reviews.  That being said, a good friend that owns FAST Fitness and Sports Training sent me a charity event invite a few weeks ago.  If anyone knows me in real life, they can attest that I am extremely passionate about two things; promoting a healthy lifestyle and charities that involves children.  Play at Heart does that by promoting heart safety to youth athletes around the country.

What is Play with Heart?

According to a New York Times article published in 2013, “a student athlete dies once every three days in the United States from sudden cardiac arrest.”  That fact is astounding to someone that grew up playing every sport and thought nothing bad could happen to him.  It is Play with Heart’s mission and purpose to prevent sudden cardiac arrests in youth sports by screening, educating, and creating programs in the sports communities.

“Each year, young athletes across the United States are dying on the field from serious health related conditions that are often preventable. Sadly, sudden cardiac death, the leading cause of death in youth sports, has been overshadowed by other topics such as concussions and heat stroke by most leading youth sports agencies on a national level.”

Play with Heart advocates for this fact.  It offers programming, events, resources and education dedicated to preventing sudden cardiac death in student athletes and partners with other organizations around the country who share a similar mission.

How is Play with Heart and FAST Fitness and Sports Training partnering up?

FAST Fitness and Sports Training is partnering with Play with Heart to raise funds for placing Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) with youth sports teams, clubs, facilities and schools who otherwise can’t afford one for themselves.
