Like bold lips, the high bun isn’t backing down this fall and winter. From the runway to the real world the high hairstyle is still a hit. It could be sleek, or shaggy. Regardless of how you wear it or what you wear it with, the towering top knot is still trending.

Textured Top Knot

Get the look:

  • Texture your tresses by scrunching damp hair with a light hold gel. Squeeze out excess product with a clean towel.
  • Once the product is spread evenly, diffuse your hair with a blow dryer on medium speed.
  • Pull hair loosely to the top of your head between your crown and hairline. Secure with hair band.
  • Softly twist your ponytail until it coils itself onto a bun. Secure with another hair band and bobby pins.

Basic Ballerina Bun

Get the look:

  • Blow-dry your hair with a smoothing serum and boar bristle brush.
  • Pull hair into a high ponytail ironing out any bumps with your boar bristle brush. Secure with elastic.
  • Twisting tighter this time let your hair coil onto itself. As you twist your hair smooth out any fly aways with an aerosol hairspray or tiny amount of serum.
  • After securing the bun with another hair tie use hairpins to further fasten the bun so the tightly twisted hair doesn’t unwind.
  • Finish your bun with hairspray lying down the fly aways with the side of the bottle or can.

Shaggy Style

Get the look:

  • This timesaving style is super simple. The trick is to shampoo and condition your hair the night before. Let your hair air-dry and by morning it will have the right amount of natural texture.
  • Comb your hair with your fingers and pull it to your crown. Start wrapping the hair band leaving parts of the pony in the elastic every time you loop it.
  • Pull and play with the bun to add texture and fullness.
  • Finish with a light hold pump hairspray.
