Don’t Miss: Oskar Blue’s Old Chub and the Strawberry Shake

Megan Barber, Larkburger, Larkspur, happy hour, happiest hour, best shakes in Denver, Oskar Blues, New BelgiumHappy hour is often a special event in my week. My friends and I drool over menus online before finally picking a favorite spot. But sometimes happy hour is nice if it is a little more laid back, an impromptu moment with friends or even a quiet moment by yourself. My happy hour pick this week is perfect for these more relaxed occasions. Larkburger was born out of Vail’s Larkspur restaurant and the delicious burgers that spawned their own fan club. Many of you have tried their burgers, but what you may not know is that they also offer happy hour. The menu is simple, but I can guarantee that next time you drive by a location between 3:00-6:00 pm, you’ll be grateful I filled you in.

There are only two things on Larkburger’s happy hour menu: beer and shakes. The beer offerings are solid, but nothing fancy. There’s cans of New Belgium’s Fat Tire and Sunshine Wheat as well as Dale’s Pale Ale and Old Chub from Oskar Blues. There’s even a gluten free beer, Bard’s. But you don’t come to Larkburger for happy hour because of the selection. You come because the beers are only $2 and they pair perfectly with a tasty burger. I recommend ordering the Old Chub, because for only $2, this 8% ABV beer is a great value.

After you’ve enjoyed your burger and beer, you can indulge in dessert. For $2 you will get a vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry shake. I much prefer the chocolate or strawberry versions, finding the vanilla a little boring. The strawberry is my favorite, made with real strawberries and without the sickeningly sweet tang that sometimes accompanies strawberry flavored items. You can also mix flavors. I must admit I am tempted to mix chocolate and strawberry on my next visit. Which is likely to be soon, because I don’t think I am going to be able to pass a Larkburger without satisfying a french fry/shake craving.

Megan Barber, Larkburger, Larkspur, happy hour, happiest hour, best shakes in Denver, Oskar Blues, New BelgiumThere are plenty of Larkburger locations around Denver. Spots in Downtown and Wash Park are particularly convenient. And because happy hour runs until 6:00 pm, Larkburger is my new go-to joint for an early, fast-casual dinner that won’t break the bank. Larkburger serves up high quality food at fast food prices, and happy hour is an even better value. You can order a beer, burger, and shake and leave satisfied for under $10. Looking for happy hour at lunchtime? Check out Larkburger’s celebration for Happy Hour month on September 28. On this day only Larkburger will serve happy hour all day. Delicious burgers, good beers, and a tasty strawberry shake to finish things off? I’m in.
