What time is it? Usually it seems like the most basic of questions to be asked, but is it a moment to be fashionable? In my opinion any time is a moment to be fashion conscious.

Usually when I style people, I make sure they always have formal and casual options so they have suitable choices for various occasions. Accessories, including watches, are a nice way to complete an outfit no matter how formal or casual you want to be. And as a sartorial note, it’s best to have all accessories match in regards to color (i.e. pairing a black watch with black shoes and a black belt). It makes for a cohesive and polished look.

Here are some simple suggestions for how to wear your watch with style. Granted these are just mere suggestions and not rules. Even though fashion has rules, some rules are made to be broken.

  • Black leather band: best worn with gray or black garments. Better suited for formal (evening) wear but can made casual if paired with navy or gray.
  • Brown leather band: best worn with gray, khaki or navy. The easiest to be made for both casual and formal wear and in my opinion is the most neutral color for an accessory since it pairs well with most colors.
  • Gold/silver band: similar to brown in regards to versatility. Can be worn both in a casual and formal setting with ease and finesse.
