Hindsight: Emily Wells at Hi-Dive

Emily Wells turns it UP.

Emily Wells turns it UP.

Emily Wells, the wunderkind. The violinist. The bicoastal DIY artist that fuses hip-hop and classical, whilst circulating live loops. Wells threw it down at the last stop of her tour, Saturday night at the Hi-Dive. Her living sampling is something of a spectacle. She’s a one-woman pop symphony and as comfortable on the decks as she is showing classical roots. Especially cool were the tracks from her collab with Dan the Automator and Kid Koala, from last winter’s record, Pillowfight. Her sound is smoky, dark and downtempo. Yet, she still manages to bring the party. We could wax lyrical on Miss Wells for days. Take our word for it and have a listen.
