Warm spring temperatures might be late to Denver this year, but Tamayo’s newly   launched bottomless brunch is heating up Larimer Square.

On Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30am-2:30pm, you can sip and munch on unlimited brunch cocktails and Mexican small plates for $35 in Chef Richard Sandoval’s newly renovated modern Mexican eatery.

Every good brunch starts with a good drink (or two, or three). I’m usually a mimosa girl, and while the Mango Mimosa was just right, the best way to warm up fast at Tamayo is with their Bloody Maria. Made with house sangrita mix and Conquistador tequila, the Bloody Maria is spicy, savory and refreshing.

Once you’re settled in with a good drink, let the food ordering begin. Whether you’re not sure where to start or just feel like ordering everything at once, the servers at Tamayo will help you navigate the variety of options and will pace even the most enthusiastic oEggs_Albanil_PhotoCred_Molly Martinf diners.

The Pozole was a nice start to the meal with its comforting, flavorful broth and mild spice. If you enjoy a more fiery kick, try the Carnitas Torta with ahogada sauce. The smoky, deep red sauce is served on the side, but go ahead, pour every drop over the slow cooked pork for a melt in your mouth treat.

Cazuelas, or baked eggs, are also featured on the menu. The Eggs Albanil, scrambled eggs served with a bright salsa verde, are punched up with crunchy chicharron on top. Try them with a side, like the Poblano Chile Breakfast Potatoes which arrive covered in melty gouda and oaxaca cheese.

The Tamayo BenPan_Dolce_PhotoCred_Molly Martinedict also puts a tasty spin on a classic. Instead of an English muffin and Hollandaise sauce, a poached egg and carnitas are served on masa sope with a poblano cream sauce.

After sampling the perfectly cooked Mahi Mahi “A La Talla” and declaring myself finally full, my server recommended that I end brunch with a sweet treat. The Pan Dolce, Mexican french toast with nutella, bananas, and whipped crème fresca, was sweet, but hit just the right smoky notes as well thanks to the chipotle cajeta swirled on top.

With more and more restaurants on Larimer Square throwing their eggs into the brunch basket, Tamayo’s take on brunch is deliciously different and full of spicy surprises.
