Colorado Ballet is moving to the Santa Fe Art District. The company has rehearsed out of studio space at 12th and Lincoln Streets in the heart of Cap Hill for 20 years, and will relocate less than a mile away, to a space with over 31,000 additional feet.
With over 800 students and a company of dancers numbering in the 40’s, the larger space will accomodate classes, rehearsals, auditions, and summer programs with it’s high ceilings and marley floors. The move is set to take place in late 2014. With a new address of 1075 Sante Fe Drive, the ballet company will be surrounded by a major artery of artistry in Denver.
The company also recently announced it’s 53rd season, with a fall production of Giselle, a spring performance of Cinderella in February, and new works in the late spring, including the return of beloved choreographer Amy Seiwert.
Look for further announcements on the building and the upcoming season this weekend and next at the Ellie, when the company performs Stravinsky’s radical Rite of Spring, Balanchine’s Theme and Variations and other works of now-classic contemporary choreography. Performances run next Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 in the DPAC, as well as the first weekend in March.
