I have never been an a fan of themed apparel.  Ask my Mom, I’ve tossed many a snowman sweater from her closet.  As the Fourth of July nears, I cringe at the thought of the ways in which many Americans will defile our Nations’s flag.  I am talking about wearing it as a scarf, printed on earrings, printed on cut-offs(most offensive), and of course on tee shirts.

It does not have to be so.  My advice is to put together a look that is inspired by the stars and stripes.  When I plan a look for the holiday, I think about what I am going to be doing.  This holiday is typically casual.  I try to incorporate denim whenever it is appropriate.

Putting together separates take a little time, however the result is more style.  I find a top, perhaps in the colors of the holiday, to pair with great fitting denim.  Everyone should own two pair of jeans.  One should be dark and hemmed to wear with heels, the other in a flattering wash hemmed to flats.

Accessories are the perfect way to express your theme.  Choose a bold piece, or a mix of colors to achieve your desired look.  I love red shoes, and what better day to wear them.  A punch of red elevates a casual outfit.  This summer I love the idea of a great dangle earring and a bold cuff bracelet.  Handbags are essential.  A beautiful, crisp white bag is perfect.
