On The Beat: The Knew Announce Album Release Date

The Knew set to release new album

Local rockers The Knew are set to release their next full-length album in August. Man Monster, the band’s follow up to 2010’s great Pulperia, will get a two-night release party Aug. 24 and 25 at the Lion’s Lair. The group promises other heavy hitters on the bill to be announced soon.

The Knew has already started streaming the album’s first single, “Major Nights,” on its Soundcloud page. It’s a great ball of energy sure to be a sing-along favorite at future shows. The Knew have got a definite formula for making catchy punk rock anthems and it seems like they are definitely on the right track with Man Monster. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. The new album will be available digitally, on CD and on limited-edition vinyl.

If that didn’t make you impatient enough, they have also collaborated with local video makers Photo Roadies and put out a teaser/ mini documentary about the making of the album. In it, you can hear snippets of some new tracks, behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with each band member. See for yourself below.

While the release is still a couple of months away, you’ll be able to catch The Knew out and about this summer, including sets at tomorrow’s  Westword Music Showcase and the Underground Music Showcase in July.

It’s still a little early to tell, but Man Monster sounds like a promising sophomore effort from The Knew, and the release party is sure to be a blast, so mark your calendars and start the countdown. August will be here before you know it.
