If you’ve been reading “Fashion Fridays” you know I cover trends – even ones I don’t necessarily endorse. This week I’m highlighting what’s sure to be a serious spring trend, though I’m vacillating over whether or not it’s worth investing in.

We’ve seen denim take various forms recently, most notably through color – bright color especially. This season colored denim is evolving into prints, primarily floral prints. From tiny and ditsy to bold and graphic to black and white, floral denim was planted, sewn and harvested, and has now blossomed into the trend crop de jour. And, that means you have your pick. From Delias to Alexander Wang, floral jeans, capris and shorts are no doubt ubiquitous.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t make the trend your own. I prefer flirty and feminine floral denim paired with more structured tops and edgier accessories, say a boyfriend blazer or crisp white or chambray button-down shirt. Or, add some biker boots to capture an early ’90s sensibility. Yes this trend is girly, playful and youthful, but that doesn’t mean you can’t inject some grunge and sophistication into, and nurture it to be more wearer-friendly.

While these petal pants are certainly not the easiest trend to wear, Jenna Dewan Tatum and Ciara were recently spotted trying the trend and looking good doing it. I would recommend trying a few styles, colors and prints to see what is most flattering on, and wearable, for you. More flower power to ya.
