Read Alert: FrockOut 2012

There’s not really anything that nerdy about reading. In fact, I consider it a particularly fashionable pastime, one that’s been chic since the beginning and will remain so until the end of time. Books and fashion just stand together as pillars of popular culture. But just in case you need a little more convincing, how about an exciting event, one that’s a perfect mashup of books and fashion? (With a little history thrown in for good measure?!)

The Denver Public Library Friends Foundation will host FrockOut 2012 “Come Undone” on Thursday, April 19 at the downtown Denver Central Library. The “Come Undone” theme was inspired by the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. The 12 designers, selected by a panel of fashion experts, have been charged to create a finale piece that “evokes the opulence, decadence and hubris that surrounded the maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic.”

This fancy event begins with a cocktail party before the show. If you want a leg up on the designers participating in the show checkout FrockOut2012.com. All entires will be judged by a panel which includes the fabulous Fallene Wells. Tickets are already on sale from $20-$100 and can be purchased online. All proceeds benefit Fresh City Life programming at the Denver Public Library.
