Fashion Fridays – New York Fashion Week: Fall 2011

For some, February brings love. For me, it brings Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week. While others are snuggled up with a loved on for Valentine’s Day, I’m cuddled up with my computer cyber-stalking all the runway shows.

Fall 2011 Fashion Week was particualarly exciting with the opening of Alexander Wang’s boutique, Michael Kors’ 30th anniversary and Theyskens’Theory premier collection.

For fall, designers created cohesive collections with some major warming trends to look forward to. Other than black, earth tones, especially rust, colored the catwalks as seen at 3.1 Phillip Lim, Proenza Schouler and Diane von Furstenberg. Delicate lace, danced across runways in both feminine and edgy silhouettes – Marchesa presented a soft red and white lace dress while Anna Sui showed edgy lace tights. And, fur proved to be the fabric of choice for nearly every designer, including Michael Kors, BCBG Max Azria and Prabal Gurung.

Here’s to warming up and looking cool!
