One trend I’m seeing everywhere this spring – and that I’m totally obsessed with – is oversized crystals, primarily in geometric clusters. These shiny stones are popping up on everything from shoes to jewelry to embellishment on handbags and clothing. Imagine if a chandelier was crushed into a million pieces and the shimmering prisms were pieced together. The result quickly dresses up and funks up any item. My favorite effect of the trend is that it truly captures a neo-art deco feeling that is both elegant and edgy.
Prada’s Spring 2010 demonstrated just how illuminating the chunky crystal fad could be, showing completely crystallized dresses, tops and footwear. It’s evident that fashion is getting fancified with shine.
This is a trend that is clearly crystalizing before our very eyes.
